What has heart to do with emotions and emotional thinking?. When we feel more emotional, does heat beat faster or does it cause any functional degradation? What is the link between the emotions in the brain and heart? Why do doctors advice heart patients not to get too emotional or do anything that will make them emotional?

I was recently diagnosed with asthma, and to me it seems pretty bad! Is it normal to have pretty constant attacks, and to need the inhaler almost once every hour? I also wake up about 4 times a night needing it. Its extremely restricting and ANNOYING. Does anyone with asthma know if this is pretty normal? I'm trying to decide if I should go back to the doctor or if I just need to get used to this.

Hey guys

So, I am a EMT-P for the city of Calgary and my parter and I were called to the home of a 18 y/o male. When we arrived he had a severe migraine (Photosensitivity and all that) also he was experiencing body weakness and stiffness, dizziness and nausea. We got him into the ambulance put him on oxygen among other procedures did vitals.. they were slightly elevated. On route to the hospital he had sever pain from his head all the way down to his lower back he started screaming in agony and his arms and legs went numb. The pain was described as a sharp stinging pain. I went to do a BP but he screamed and ripped the BP cuff off. At the hospital he went into a grand-mal seizure. Since then he has had an MRI an CT done and nothing has come up...any ideas? History- A year ago he had a small lesion on his spinal cord from an MVA.

Any Ideas?????? Thanks!!!!!!

I've never been allergic to anything, but within the past few months something has been bothering me like crazy.

I just can't figure out what it is...Sometimes I'm just sitting in class and I get welts on my wrists or legs...other times my lips swell up for no apparent reason. The breakouts happen and the strangest times and they are driving me crazy. I don't have a doctor right now and really don't feel like waiting in the clinic's waiting room for an eternity...can someone help me figure out what it could possibly be?

The clinic is the last resort.

I am 38 years old. Diagnosed 7 years ago. I seem to have waves of symptoms over the years. Sometimes I go a long time with no palpitations and then other times I get clusters of palpitations. I have been prescribed a beta blocker to use "as needed" and have been taking them more often lately. I have had a lot of stress this month as both of my parents have had serious heart related events. My mother had a heart attack and my father had bypass surgery, all this month. I was told 7 years ago that it was mild and that if anything was going to end my life it would be something else other than the prolapsed valve. My question is if the palpitations increasing is a sign of a worsening valve?

for cookies, candy bars, non-diet sodas, orange juice...anything with sugar. I know that's ok for a temporary fix, but it's usually his only nutrition for the day. Since my birthday, Oct 18, Mom has seen dad eat ONLY 1 poptart and several mello yello's. NEVER eats regularly, NEVER exercises, sleeps (or is in bed) most of the day, drinks HEAVILY every day (normally 1.75 liter of vodka/whiskey every 2-4 days!!). Mom noticed recently how purple his left leg was, also blotchy purple on both arms. His blood sugar episodes leave him immobilized, and eventually soiling and/or wetting himself. There are poop and pee stains throughout the house, especially in and around his recliner, in and around his side of the bed, and in his bathroom. He's temporarily lost the use of his legs--for minutes or hours at a time--and once, at least, couldn't see. I need GOOD sources of info for him. He needs it all written down for him what he can and can't do. He's VERY STUBBORN, he thinks no one notices.

If they can make soap that is so effective at killing 99.9% of the germs why is it that it cannkot seem to ever kill that .10th of a percent? What makes it that it cant kill that one germ. How does that single germ survive? I work at wal mart doing maintenace and I always tell people after I clean the bathrooms that they are 99.9% germ free but to watch out for that .10% cause I couldnt fine it and its somewhere in there and that is the germ that is going to make you sick.

My brother (he's 13) was diagnosed with Osteosarcoma (bone cancer) about a month ago and he's already started Chemo. His right knee is about three times the size of his other knee because of the tumor and it's pressing against a cluster of nerves. He'll have surgery Christmas week so we'll probably be spending Christmas in the hospital. He's in pain and he's scared, and he wants to cut off his leg. I don't blame him; if they only replace his knee, he'll never run again and the chance of recurrence is greater if he keeps his leg. He doesn't eat much because he doesn't feel good and he's crabby and demanding. I don't mind his attitude because he's got a right to act that way, I just don't like how I respond to it. I try to be patient, but so far I haven't done so well. I'm going to buy him an iPod so he doesn't get too bored in the hospital, but is there anything else I can do for him? I tell him I love him every day.

The diarrhea comes several times a day although I sleep well. I have lomotil..helps but not a cure. Is there anything to lessen this side effect since I have to take it for 10 days and the previous antibiotic (5 days) caused same problem. Diarrhea is not a common problem for me. I am female age 60. I also take Cymbalta and had melanoma level 3 removed from my arm approx 4 mos ago.

MSG, or montosodium gludimate, is a common food additive found in most prossesed foods today. it can go under the catagory of "MSG" "natural flavors" or "artificial flavoring". what this does to people is horrendus. it makes their though prsses mixed up, makes them so they can't consentrate, have a short temper, and violent. a minor reaction like this lasts a day or two. a more major reaction involves going into anahlictic shock, in which the person's throat closes up causing them to possibly choke to death. What my concern is is that people are mistaking the signs of MSG poisoning for ADD and ADHD in children, and are medicting them for no good reson. this also causes many violent crimes. i have a serious MSG allergy, and this is very common, but almost no one relizes they have it until they go into shock. is this just me, or is there something wrong here?
