I have taken xanax, ativan, klonopin and valuim before. I think that Xanax is the #1 strongest, next comes valuim then klonopin and last ativan.

I am currently on Klonopin 1 mg two times aday. I think Klonopin lasts alot longer then ativan. Actually Ativan doesn't do anything at all for me much. If you haven't ever taken any tranqulizer before you should start ff of ativan. If you have servere anxiety go for the klonopin but try to get the xanax.

=)

My wife thinks Ativan helps her sleep, and Klonopin doesn't faze her.

I think Klonopin relaxes me a little, not much, and Ativan, I can't tell that I've taken it.

We agree that neither one is particularly strong, and different drugs affect different people differently.

We agree that lying down and having somoene rub your back has pretty strong mojo, but is that covered by your insurance? No. In fact, in some places, the police raid massage parlors, and arrest everyone. That doesn't make you very tranquil.

However, the IRS will allow you to deduct the cost of trips to Vegas to get your back (or whatever else) rubbed, as long as your doctor prescribes it. What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas, right?

Well, almost everything. Make an appointment with your doctor to get a shot of penicillin when you return.

I've never taken ativan, but I have taken Klonopin and Xanax. In my vague memories of my time on xanax, it seems to me that xanax was stronger. Klonopin is what I take now, and it's pretty strong, but I got used to it quickly. If I want it to calm me now, I have to take more.

Salam

There seems to be a need to fill for these medications? I really don't understand the need for these medications if one is not getting the therapy and needed guidance that is required that comes along these medications. Is it just administered? If so I would then gather we are some kind of flock that is required to be influenced by such things.

I don't ever remember anyone asking for the proper help or getting it when it comes to these medications. What is it called again observation? Lol what a joke!

The Lord can heal anything that is on the surface of the earth with one prayer from a believer. I don't see a need to give something unless its understood what it does and if its really needed to begin with. Since everyone is different, it would effect people differently.

I have taken both - Klonopin is longer lasting (10ish hours) than Ativan (6-8 hours)- otherwise i think they are the same.

Ask your doctor. If you are contemplating suicide, please call 1-800 SUICIDE so that someone can help you *especially* if you are triggered by this message. Neither Yahoo nor any of us are liable for any advice contained herein; we are not doctors, and this advice is not a substitute for in-person medical advice.

If you are looking for anxiety relief (which is what these drugs are designed for), you want the minimum effective dose, and you want to be careful not to become addicted to it. Both of the drugs you are asking about are fairly "good" drugs in the sense of being relatively non-habit forming at low doses. (I'm sure about Ativan in this regard, not about Klonopin.)

klonopin seems to work faster, but not longer. both are fast acting, but dont last very long at all. honestly i think they are about the same. ativan is just more popular, like the way dr's rarely rx valium anymore, they use xanax instead.. same difference

tranquilizer is a general term. ativan and klonipin are both the same thing (benzodiazapines) except klonipin lasts alot longer. ativan is the shortest acting legal benzo 6hrs, klonipin is the longest. 18hrs. they will both knock you out if you do not have a tolerance. I suggest starting with the ativan if you are just starting. AND NEVER MIX THEM WITH ANOTHER SEDATIVE ESPECIALLY YOUR 'TRANQUILIZER'.
