The diarrhea comes several times a day although I sleep well. I have lomotil..helps but not a cure. Is there anything to lessen this side effect since I have to take it for 10 days and the previous antibiotic (5 days) caused same problem. Diarrhea is not a common problem for me. I am female age 60. I also take Cymbalta and had melanoma level 3 removed from my arm approx 4 mos ago.

Your intestinal friendly bacteria has been destroyed do to the antibiotics usage. All you have to do is to eat natural yogurt (organic if possible), and take Probiotic. You will find that to any natural food store. Probiotic found in yogurt, will put back the friendly bacteria. Your doctor suppose to let you know that. As for dealing with your cold, take some vitamin C (buffered form) and Echinacea, to make your immunity stronger.

Call your MD and complain. With all the antibiotics on the market there's no reason to suffer with uncontrollable diarrhea. Lomotil is one of the strongest narcotic antidiarrhea medications on the market, if it doesn't work, something is wrong. Why take an antibiotic that requires using a strong narcotic (that is ineffective in your case)? Cephalosporins are very effective for bronchitis, usually don't cause any stomach upset or diarrhea and don't interfere with other medications, vitamin or mineral supplements. Please call your MD.

I once suffered from Chronic Bronchitis. I would suffer sometimes 3 to 4 times per year! Usually when there was a major change in the pressure outside (I live in the north, and the temperature spikes and dips do wonders to chronic sufferers of bronchitis!). Each time I would get horrible hacking coughs, hoarking up green phlegm..it was so frustrating!

The key to getting rid of your bronchitis is to find a way to completely eliminate the germs that are causing all the phlegm and irritation leading to your hoarking cough and heavy breathing. Keep reading to learn how to do kill these germs!!

I find Imodium to work really well, also make sure you get some potassium, you loose it all with diarrhea and need to replace it. And after your done try to get some good flora back in as the antibiotic and diarrhea also destroy and flush out the good bacteria. Eat yogurt with active acidophiles, I heard sauerkraut is good too or probiotics from a health food store. take care.

Call the doctor and request a different antibiotic. Ask for Levaquin (unless you're on medicaid). It's the strongest and the best. But they do have other options rather than pennicillin. At least they could give you zithromax which you only have to take once a day for 5 days.

unfortunately antibiotics in general can cause this problem. I get bronchitus every year (have had it 29 times in my life) and I have found that only Augmentin will work for me and NO side effects. It really depends on the person. best wishes

You need to call the dr & have your antibiotic changed. You are not receiving all of the benefit of the amoxicillin when you have diarrhea.
