I need some flat, thin paintable wood or MDF circles (hoop shape) for a decorating project. I found some small (5") MDF circles at a hobby shop but they were thicker than I wanted and expensive, also I'd like to find some more like 10" diameter. Seems like these should be available somewhere?

I'm making a costume from the musical CATS, and this involves some intricate crosshatching on the body of the costume. I'm using gray and black FabricMate fabric markers on a light gray sweatshirt/sweatpants. Will this fade/wash off over time? I really want the job to be permanent, as it takes forever to do and I want it to stay once I get it perfect... (This costume won't be undergoing any heavy wear in a stage production, it's just for Halloween, cosplay, etc.)

I will attempt a craft called Flower Pounding where you lay flower petal on treated muslin, pound it with a hammer so the pigment from the flowers are stained into the muslin. Have you ever tried this, did it work and what successful techniques did you use?

I am 15, and my friend has recently invited me to her birthday party, which has a tea party theme. I have found a wonderful dress (Salvation Army for 3.99!!). I have a medical condition where I cannot spend too much time in the sun because of the medicine I take. Since this party is outdoors, my friend suggested the wonderful idea of finding a parasol! So now, I need to know how to make my own parasol if I can't buy one somewhere. Also, I am on a limited budget, seeing as my parents are kind enough to pay for this. Also, I cannot use sunscreen because it will NOT work, trust me.

she's 13, and she needs something to keep her busy this summer...we have a lot of craft supplies just sitting around the house (felt, pipe cleaners, beads, embroidery thread,pom-poms, wooden/cardboard boxes, paints/brushes/canvas, sewing stuffs, etc...) basically I'm an avid crafter and everytime hobby-lobby or michaels has a sale I stock up...now she is 13 but she hasn't done any of the things I did by the time I was 13...she can't sew, paint, or craft at all ... and ... here's the kicker .... she wants to learn how to craft...so where do I start teaching her? what is a good beginners project? I started selling crafts I made with my mom when I was her age...but she never has done anything like that...my mom really got me going on recycled crafts (like crafts made from empty pickle jars and cardboard tp tubes) so I keep a stock of those types of things as well and that's primarily what I want to teach her (because it's the easier, more creative and more fun type of crafting)
