What I am looking for is how to make all of the tie offs secure when doing the rosettes. More secure than what the directions call for, I'm afraid that it may come unraveled.

The same as joining granny squares: use a large darning needle rather than a blunt yarn needle. End off with two stitches, the second piercing the previous stitch and burying itself in a like-colored area.

Some people like to dab on Fray-Chek too, but I don't believe it's been around long enough to be considered to be time-proven.

Yes, but it did not have anything to do with knitting. It mean slow ,silly, etc.
