Music is a great hobby that many people enjoy, both listening and playing. You can try to broaden your musical interests and discover new music you would've never considered otherwise. Perhaps you could play the music and learn to play an interest. It's a wonderful way to express yourself, relieve stress, and create something beautiful. Lessons tend to run about $15-$30 per lesson, possibly more depending on your location. Or if you're a self-learner, the Internet is an incredible resource.
Reading can also be a great way to spend your time. You can try anything from classic literature to modern mystery novels. You might enjoy simply reading magazines such as Time, maybe a newspaper, or (my personal favorite) browsing Wikipedia, howitsmade.com, and other educational sites
I also like video games, and with new consoles like the Wii and DS providing games with massive widespread appeal, there's never been a better time to get into the hobby. Enjoy Nintendogs, Elite Beat Agents, and Cooking Mama on the DS, or maybe some Wii Sports, Raving Rabbids, and classic Super Mario Bros. on the Wii. If you have a group of friends willing to try, you could play classic pen & paper role-playing games such as Dungeons & Dragons. These games tend to last several hours per session, and are a great social experience.
There are a ton more things you can do, but these three activities basically sum up my free time. (Feel free to message me if you'd like even more specific recommendations.)

Well...I think the most important thing is that whatever you choose it is something you can do in a group, or at least can get you to meet other people through involvement in groups....Some ideas you could do from my experience...
Play a team sport:...I am not the most sporty person, but have been playing softball for the past few years. It not only help to keep me (somewhat) fit, but having the rest of the team there has given me lots of friends and knowing that other people are depending on me helps give me the motivation to go to regular training session. Also, after a day at work (particularly if you have an office based job) having the opportunity to go out and spend some time in the open air on the field is something which keeps you going.
Voluntary work:...try and find something you like e.g. working with children or youths. Although it can give you numerous headaches, if you find something you like,. it can be relaxing, and the satisfaction you get after seeing something being pulled off successfully knows no bounds.
Start to learn a new instrument e.g. guitar. Try and find somewhere to learn where you can also have group sessions, as this would be great fun, and also helps give you the motivation to keep on playing and amke new friends.
get into collecting something (e.g. stamps...you probably have a collection from when you were younger...go dust that up, and it would not only stir up lots of memories, but is great fun. Do not do it on your own...try and find other collectors in the area...groups are found for nearly everything.
Do you have a garden...gardening would be a great stress buster...and it would also give you time to spend outdoors, which would be a welcome change from a computer screen (at least for me). Then involve yourself in a gardeining club...or e.g. also specialised clubs e.g. Cactus enthusisasts etc... I come from Malta (its a small island just under Italy)...and we do have lots of these...so i would think that they are found worldwide.
Start learning something which is different to you job...eg. painting/drawing, or a craft such as filigree ...the end product youg et would give you motivation...and making friends with the other people in the calss, would make you look forward to your lessons.

I work , work & work but I have started to compile a huge list of navy vessels through research , not exactly a riveting pastime but I do get lost in it. What I am saying is 'do anything'. It's got nothing to with motivation , no matter how trivial your hobby is to others , you must get away from work , even if it means less overtime.

Go to a yarn shop near you, tell them you are new and want to learn to knit. Buy some high end yarn, something silky. Carry that yarn around with you, put it in a plastic bag in your purse. When you are stressed, fondle that yarn.
Then find a knitter to show you how to use it, make something you will wear next to the skin so you can feel it all the time.
Repeat....

scrapbooking is all the rage right now and I absolutely love it! I started scrapbooks for both my mom and step mom for mothers day...and now they are into it...wanting to get ideas to finish some more of their pages..I just did a few each for them!!
I also make tied fleece blankets.
beaded jewelry is lots of fun and you will actually get compliments on your jewelry....it's another hot item this year!!
gardening...start an herb or flower garden!
painting...there are a lot of great pre-made wood craft projects and all you have to do is paint them...they look terriffic!
