Right now, I only eat chicken because my mom forces me to. She said that otherwise I won't get enough protein and her other reason is that we don't buy enough vegtables.

Does it count towards being a vegetarian if I only eat animals that are vegetarian. I know for sure I haven't eaten any carnivores(lions, tigers, bears etc. etc.) and the like. Am I making the right contribution..

This doesn't have to do with vegitarianism/veganism specifically, but I am asking this here because I assume that many of you have read a lot about this subject.

I'm doing a project on livestock farming practices in the United States and it seems like all the information I can find on the issue comes from either crazy leftists like PETA and the A.L.F. who loudly scream their crazy rhetoric about how meat eaters should be punched in the face... or from crazy rightists like the Center for Consumer Freedom and animalscam.com who loudly scream their crazy rhetoric about how PETA and the A.L.F. are nazi/communist/terrorists who want to punch you in the face.

Does anyone know where I can get some non-biased information regarding farming, livestock, eating meat, etc?

I've been a vegetarian for roughly 5 1/2 6 years and recently my doctor suggested that I should maybe think about including chicken back into my diet(for personal medical reasons) I would probably never consider eating red meat again and I dislike fish to the point that I'd most likely never eat that again. I'd probably eat ham maybe(poor piggie) maybe not.

My question is how do I ease my digestive system back into this? Any idea what type of chicken(how its prepared) is easier and tastier to digest? Also I'm a little grossed out about eating meat again especially a bird so I'm wondering if theres anything I can do about the gag factor(I tihnk I might gag because its been so long)
Any tips wold be appreciated. Also if you have went back to meat after being a vegetarian how did it go? And how did you do it? Share your story please.
Thanks

Considering that we eat most of our meals at home. We don't eat breakfast other than toast, cereal, or oatmeal.

I am not currently a veggie so when I go into a restaraunt I often ask the waitress if they like something on the menu and I have gotten many veggie waitresses. As veggies and vegans, what do you think about that? thanks! (I am not trying to be rude or harrass anyone, this is a real, honest question)

I am going to start this new diet. It says that you can loose 10-17 pounds in a week. Here is what it includes:

Soup (You make this soup yourself):
6 Large Green Onions
2 Green Peppers
One (1) 28oz Crushed Tomatoes
1 Bunch of Celery
1 Package of Lipton Onion Soup Mix
1-2 cubes of chicken bouillon
Head of Cabbage

Cereal:
Special K (Vanilla Almond) w/ skim milk

Drink:
Skim milk, Water, Cranberry Juice

Fruit:
Any fruit except bananas

NO!!!!:
Carbonated drinks, sugar, sweets, meat, and fried foods!

The soup you eat everyday. As much as you want..whenever you want..anytime of the day. They said the more soup you eat, the more you will loose.

So do you think I can loose weight by only eating these things in good portions + exercise? Thanks for you answers!

PS: The soup is kinda like that soup in the Cabbage Soup Diet people do and I know that works well

Ok. I have been veggie for like 5 years now and if I encounter meat it will make me offily sick. Does this happen to you? Like I went to this Chinese buffet getting some green beans. But it was just by the meatloaf. I was there putting the green beans on my plate and I caught a whiff of the meat and instantly my stomach became extremely weak. I placed my plate on the table and was about to vomit on the floor. Honestly I didn't think I was going to make it to the bathroom but I did and vomited there. Has this happend to you before? Also, do you all think I had overreacted?

I'm vegetarian. My mother bought me something very special that i been wanting for a very long time. Now, i realized that this has anchovies in it. My mother would have bought it unknowingly. Should I tell her, which would result in an immediate return and/or destruction of the food in question, or should i savor this food that I have craved for soooo long.

I know what to use to replace whole eggs in a recipe (flaxseeds, bananas, Ener-G egg replacer, soft tofu, etc) but the recipe can't taste like bananas and I don't if the other alternatives will work or how much to use. Any suggestions? Thanks! =)

can vegans eat animal crackers? lol

My friend eats meats from a farm thats not mass produced, steriod infested meat, that is killed humanely. Is she a vegetarian?

As well, my other firend eats fish and chicken. Can she still be classified as one?

And as for me, I don't eat meat period and I feel a little chated knowing that my efforts are going to waste when these so called 'vegetarians' are calling themselves that when they eat meat.

But, if they do it some types of meats, but not all, are they still somewhat of a vegetarian?

Thanks!

I'm a new vegan and I'm prepared to do my first animal product free grocery shopping this Sunday. This may seem outlandish but is there a online resource /list that differentiates between ingredients are vegan friendly and what are not?

Additionally:

1. Does anyone suggest a good vitamin supplement I could take (for b12 vitamin d, anything else I'm missing?

2. How can I know what sugar is not refined with cane sugar and what is not? (American Citizen)

ANYTHING is appreciated. Thanks!

Is it OK to kill an animal if you need a microscope to see it, even if it is raised exclusively for consumption?
