yes, in limited quantities because of the high oil (healthy oil, but still) content.
I make my own hummus and substitute low-fat homemade yogurt for 1/2 the oil. The taste difference is so slight that most people I've fed it to don't notice.

Yes, high in fiber, the fats in it are monounsaturated... it's a great thing! It's good as a dip w/ pita bread or pita chips, but also as a spread for sandwiches, instead of mayo. Hummus 4 garlic cloves 2 cups canned chickpeas, drained, liquid reserved 1 1/2 teaspoons kosher salt 1/3 cup tahini (sesame paste) 6 tablespoons freshly squeezed lemon juice (2 lemons) 2 tablespoons water or liquid from the chickpeas 8 dashes hot sauce Turn on the food processor fitted with the steel blade and drop the garlic down the feed tube; process until it's minced. Add the rest of the ingredients to the food processor and process until the hummus is smoothly pureed. Taste, for seasoning, and serve chilled or at room temperature.

Yes, hummus is a healthy spread. You can choose if you want to add olive oil to it (which will increase the fat amount). It is low fat, has protein, fiber, vitamins, etc.
Hummus:
2cloves garlic
2cups cooked chickpeas, drained
4T lemon juice
1/2 t salt
3T tahini
2T water
Paprika
Olive oil (if desired for consistency)
This is cholesterol free as well. Much better than mayonaise, butter, or other commercial spreads which contain hydrogentated oils/trans fats.

Hummus is a healthy food. Easy to make too. I like to make sandwiches with it, use it as a dip with raw veggies.

It's very healthy for you!
Chick peas, tahini (sesame paste), lemon juice & salt
Chick peas are a great source of fiber & protein...but because it has "a healthy fat" content, use it sparingly.
A good portion would be 1/4 cup per serving.
I love it on the side of most rice, risotto dishes and with bagles or with baby carrots and cucumbers!

Yeah it's made for chickpeas (garbanzo beans)
Chickpeas are a good source of zinc,[4] and protein.[5] They are also very high in dietary fiber and thus are a healthy food source, especially as a source of carbohydrates for persons with insulin sensitivity or diabetes. They are low in fat, and most of the fat content is monounsaturated.
One hundred grams of mature boiled chickpeas contains 164 calories, 2.6 grams of fat (of which only 0.27 gram is saturated), 7.6 grams of dietary fiber, and 8.9 grams of protein. [6]
Chickpeas are also a significant source of calcium (190 mg/100 g). Some sources quote it as equal to yogurt and close to milk. According to the International Crops Research Institute for the Semi-Arid Tropics, on an average, chickpea seed contains: 23% protein 64% total carbohydrates 47% starch 5% fat 6% crude fiber 6% soluble sugar 3% ash
They also report high mineral content: phosphorus (340 mg/100 g) calcium (190 mg/100 g) magnesium (140 mg/100g) iron (7 mg/100 g) zinc (3 mg/100 g)

In moderation. It is fairly high in calories and carbs. Check the label. But in general, sure and it tastes great. Very versatile too. Try it with roasted red peppers.

I guess. It's made from vegetables. Just check the ingridients and nutrition facts on the back of it in a grocery store. It depends on your diet and what's right for you.

Yes, it is high in Protien.
Many people say they use it sparingly because it is high in fat. Vegans eat so little fat anyway, it is not bad for you.
