Yogurt is a living culture of beneficial organisms. Do they live indefinitely? What happens if they get old and die, perhaps running out of nutrients?
The yogurt can hardly go sour like milk, because it is already sour.
I am talking about real yogurt, not the sweetened junk with syrupy fruit flavors added.
I once bought up a bunch of yogurt that was sold at 10 cents per tub because it was past its expiration date. Well, it tasted just the same as if it were fresh on the shelf.
