I've NEVER heard of cooking an avocado. Just eat it raw, it's good.

It is edible in the raw form.. in fact guacamole is avocado; mashed raw with lemon juice and salt.

The best way to eat avacado is raw. It is especially good on a turkey sandwich.

of course you can, guacamole is made from raw ones. The easiest way to take the good stuff out is to hit the pit with the sharp side of your knife, it will stick in in and you can just twist it out. take a plain old spoon and scoop the yummy green stuff out!

yes, and its delicious... here are some ideas if you're looking for something to do with it. :)

peel and cut avocado into cubes- toss into a bowl with cherry tomatoes, crumbled feta cheese, sliced almonds, and olives... drizzle with your favorite vinaigrette, salt and pepper to taste... makes a fabulous salad.

peel and cut avocado into slices- add it to a chicken club sandwich, BLT, or burger... mmmmmm

peel, cube, and mash it up with salt, pepper, lime juice, minced garlic, and chopped cilantro. (diced onion & tomato are optional) to make a killer guacamole... if you like it hot you can add cayanne pepper, chillis, or jalapenos.

peel, cube and crush (but do not mash smooth- leave it chunky!) - mix with crushed mango, pineapple, diced sweet onions, red bell peppers, sweet whole kernel corn, and black beans... toss in chopped cillantro and a little balsamic vinegar, lime or lemon juice...(if you want to add a little kick, you can also toss in a smidge of tequilla)... just a drop though or you cover the taste of everything else... spoon over chicken or shrimp- wrap in a tortilla and top with sour cream. yummers.

Even babies love it raw, here in California, it's a major food group. I've never seen it cooked (BTW).
