I read on yahoo that it is very good for you but your digestion system has a hard time digesting it because of the seed covering so they said to crush it or put it in a grinder then you can sprinkle it on anything before you eat it.

Whole flax seed acts as a bowel loosener.
Ground flax seeds are very nutritious and are loaded with Omega 3's
