I'll be going to an authentic Japanese restaurant soon. The first time was a few weeks ago. I got a tranditional ramen soup with soy sauce: Shoyu Ramen.

Next time I want to branch out. Any suggestions?

I have 2 bento boxes, with compartments arranged very much like this one:

http://www.kitchen-hills.com/Japanese-Import/Bento-Lunch-Tray-w-Dividers-B00021TNR8.htm

I would like to use them for a japanese meal, no meat, poultry, fish, or seafood, but dairy and eggs are ok. No carrots. Do you have any suggestions? I need help to choose items that will all balance and work together. I definitely want to use a sweet tamagoyaki, but what else can be put with that?

I do enjoy fried tofu.

What do you think of our food?Growing up with stuff like crawfish,it came as a shock for me to find out that some Northern friends I know found our eating habits weird...or they just plain thought the food was not of their tastes.

Does anyone know an easy recipe for Dum Gosht Biryani? Lamb biryani?

I know that you can buy the spice / sauce packets at the grocery store. Do these work ok? I am just looking for something quick and easy.

The filling looks like hamburger, peas, rice and a little tomato taste, with some melted cheese. The outside looks like some type of batter that is baked or fried, covering the filling, and looks like it could have been baked in a muffin tin, shaped like a tall muffin. Any ideas? It may be Phillippino...I'm not sure.

As far as i can tell, yanks eat a mix of Italian, Chinese and Mexican food and sandwiches which are a British invention,
or McDonalds which is not actually food.

No offence to Americans intended but do you have a cuisine of your own? What is it?

I am in charge of the Easter meal for my new in-laws. They are all North Dakota Norwegians. I am Italian. You see the problem? I want to honor their traditions and favorite foods. Is there a Scandinavian version of Caprese? I have met some of them; all they say is "yep" and "you bet cha". My partner has told me that they want to know what all my gesturing and yelling is about......I think I'm just speaking normally. I need to make a good impression. I would like to coast by on my good looks and charm but what I really need is some recipes. I know nothing about Norwgian cooking. You bet cha, fer sure. I'm totally in over my Southern European head.

what the heck is this about??? Something about corn syrup to sugar....Is nothing sacred anymore (ie coke's original recipe)??? I thought kosher was about wierd ways to kill animals for food so as to supposedly get all the blood out of the meat (which isn't possible, by the way...).
