What are some good options for a sushi novice to try? I know I already like the California rolls (hold the caviar please), and I'm okay with the eel. But I think I'd like to venture into the raw fish territory, but I'm a little scared. Anything else I should know about how to order? Are they offended if I ask for a roll without the caviar?

Has anyone heard of or have a recipe for (I don't know how to spell it so I'm going to spell it phonetically) fa-ta-a-shib-ni? It's a pocket of some kind of fried white cheese.

My ex-husband is Jordanian and we used to eat it all the time at this great restaurant in Little Rock, AR.

Thanks!

I once went to a Burmese restaurant in DC. That was a very strange experience.

It was meat sliced thin and about 3 inches long. It was dark in color, without any fat at all and tasted sweet.

Last night I was enjoying a splendid bottle of fruity refreshing Chianti.
I was convinced that such a wonderful wine meets with God's approval.
Then this morning I was eating a juicy succulent bacon sandwich. Three thich rashers of dry cured oak smoked outdoor reared back bacon.
I cannot believe that God intended a large portion of the world to miss out on these delights. Someone somewhere put 2 and 2 together and came up with a lot of daft and brutal laws and just so they took they made it lawful to kill anybody who disagreed.

Not just the staples, like Lumpia or Adobo or even Pancit.

I'm talkin' folks that KNOW and love Filipino food.
Stuff like: (with good 'ol steamed rice of course):
Fried Tilapia (with the head still on - with Banana ketchup)
Menudo (pork)
Kalderetang Kambing (goat)
Chicken or Pork bbq (sweet)
(what the heck) - Dinuguan
Balut!
Bistek (or Beef Steak)
Turon
Filipino Ice Cream!
Lechon (Kawali and regular)
Chicken Chicharron
Sisig
Mechado (beef)
Kare-Kare
- there's a bunch more!

(even) Jollibee :)

It's an orange color almost like a less ketchuppy sweet and sour sauce. Same consistensy as sweet and sour. The chicken is fried not baked. There is no spicyness to it. I'm assuming it is Cantonese, could be wrong. I've only found it at a buffet or two but never at a takey outy.

For 4,95 pounds you can order a Dried Beef Ho Fun (Dry). Anybody here ever seen a "dry Ho"?? They're mostly pretty wet but they're fun, aren't they?
