couscous is pasta! You can eat lentils, daals, soy pasta, they have these chinese noodles made out of mung beans (called mung bean threads sometimes).

I have also seen pasta made from corn flour. Also egg noodles (made with soy four) are okay.

You are basically cutting out carbs from your diet.
A no carb diet is unhealthy (unless specifically prescribed by your doctor), cut down on your carbs but dont totally eliminate them.

It would depend on the reason for the restriction of grains and carbs. Couscous is a grain which is similar to pasta. It's difficult to answer without the reason for the prohibition.

If you have an intolerance such as celiac disease, check with the doctor. If this is a dietary choice, couscous has as many carbs as some of the other starches.

Sorry, but that is a very big, resounding NO!

Couscous is a grain, so not for you. Sounds like you could have coeliac disease. Check with whoever told you not to eat these things (see a doctor if it was from a non-health professional). You would probably need to avoid all grains if you cannot have rice.

Make sure you read the ingredients on stuff you are looking at to make sure they don't contain wheat, etc. Even lollies are a no-no for gluten intolerant people as they contain small amounts of gluten.

Hope this helps - sorry it's not the answer you were probably looking for!

I'm guessing you have to stay away from carbs?

couscous is made out of semolina, the same stuff that's ground into flour and made into pasta, so it contains the same amount of carbs per weight as pasta does (if the pasta doesn't contain any other ingredients such as eggs, though most commercial dry pasta is all semolina)

NO! Couscous is a wheat based food, just like bread & pasta.

Why would anyone tell you not to eat breads, rice or pasta? Whole grain breads, brown rice, and whole wheat or soy pasta are great for you. Carbs are fuels for our body and are necessary!

Do you have food allergies? If so, is it to gluten? If gluten (wheat) is the culprit, then you can have soy-based products.

no, not at all.couscous is just a really fine version of pasta so it counts.and whoever told you not to eat bread etc, don't believe them.you will NOT achieve anything out of a low-carb diet.you'll just feel tired and snappy.we NEED carbs!if your trying to lose weight, just cut back a bit on the colas and chips and that should get you were you want.

Everything you mentioned is made with WHITE FLOUR. Change to brown rice, whole wheat pasta and breads. They are excellent and healthy.

Why would anyone tell you not to eat that? Carbohydrates are needed for the body to fuel you up! I agree that you have allergies. Eat any alternative sources of carbos.

God, no!!!

It's the same starchy and carb thing as bread, rice or pasta. Cous cous is also made of flour, so figure it yourself!
