What do you think of our food?Growing up with stuff like crawfish,it came as a shock for me to find out that some Northern friends I know found our eating habits weird...or they just plain thought the food was not of their tastes.

My husband loves crawfish etouffee(sp?). We went to New Orleans and ate so much food, but worth every inch I gained!! Can we say Cafe du Monde? Begnettes(sp?) and Cafe Au Lait are my favorite. If you have a recipe for it, I would appreciate it!

I love the cuisine from Louisiana. As a chef in the Midwest (not exactly a hotspot for creative cooking), I try to incorporate many different cooking styles and backgrounds into my daily menus. I actually had some of my customers ask me if I was from New Orleans because I have so many Cajun and Creole dishes offered. I personally prefer the richer tastes of the Creole cuisine, but do get a craving for the spice of the Cajun every now and then

I was brought up, try it at least once. There is only one food source I have eaten several times that does not get any better...lima beans. There was one other that gave me pause for thought before I ate it. An Asian delicacy of duck eggs hard boiled after 21 days of incubation. Need I say, there was a duck in there. A little salt and it went down real nice.

I'm from rural California and our eating wasn't too different. We ate crawdads and some ate frog's legs. I couldn't eat hot until about 8 years ago. I was introduced to real Cajun food in Houston, then moved to the Midwest where there were Cajun restaurants. I love it now.

Cajun or Creole? I love them both!

I am Indian, so I love it. I love all the chicken & seafood dishes. The dishes are spicy & very flavorful. They are a wonderful combination of different cultures & cooking styles.

PS: all food cultures have "weird" dishes & eating habits. To Indians, eating hamburgers is weird!
Probably one of the few countries where ingredients are pretty standard & mainly vegetarian.

There are some things I don't like from La, but crawfish isn't one of them. I see them as micro-lobsters. I'm not a big fan of jambalaya, but one of my favorite dishes is boudain (sp?). I had it when I was in La. We go to Bojangles all the time. Ok, I know that's like saying a McDonald's burger is like we fix at home, but still, I like the spicy flavors.

I love Jambalaya, seared catfish, lots of hot stuff like that. Being from Vermont I don't know if these are considered Cajun cuisine or what...I just know I really enjoy the taste.

I grew up in Texas so I ate Louisiana(Cajun/Creole) style food occasionally, and I I don't think its weird at all, in fact I love the spicy flavors.
