alot of products made in Italy can be found in australia ... there is probably no real advantage except for the costs involved ... there are many aussie owned companies that were started or are still run by ppl that came from Italy. I think it comes down to the recipe that is used and/or the person that cooks the meal. My family still makes the best italian food i've ever tasted using aussie ingredients.

the fact that the food maybe imported shows that you've paid good money for it and may seem more appealing to people. think abt it, when resturants advertise their food, they're as detailed as possible using sensual words to convey emotions of food (its hard to explain, but its possible, e.g sumptuous, savoury) so saying "imported" is an added bonus for making your dish more unique.

now if italy is known for food contaminents and incredulity in its exports, then, you may loose soem customers, but hopefuly not too much

Positives: authentic tasting food, may be able to get ingredients that is not available here?

Negatives: Food may not be as fresh because it is packaged, may cost more to import it, not supporting Australia produce.
