I know many people who are allergic to wheat. Is there any sort of substitute for wheat flour that both tastes the same and is easily obtainable?

Which are the best combinations of spices/herbs to produce the most aromatic cookery? I'm tired of my dull cookery where no one would know I was cooking unless they could see me. I get the impression that Indian cookery might be the best for those wonderful aromas. I want people to 'sit up and smell my wonderful cooking'!:)

I have heard of one dish, and that's croque monsieur. I really don't know of any other specialty foods they eat over there, but I'm really interested to find out!

I'm new to Thai food and I really would like to start cooking it at home for my family. I've made pad thai so far, but I want some spicey dishes and maybe some desserts too! I'm going to the store today to pick up a sticky rice steamer basket! =)
