About my mom: she used to be a piano teacher, she and dad are active in church life; she played the piano/organ at various churches throughout her life. As a youth, she played popular tunes on the organ at the roller skating rink! She still has some of the old sheet music. Immediate family includes 5 grown children and their spouses and 14 grandchildren. She can be loads of fun, and has worked so hard taking care of others all her life. We just want this to be really special. Could just rent a room at one of their fav restaurants and have a giant cake in shape of "7", but that seems so obvious. We are trying to think of something really different. Alcohol will not feature at all as both mom and dad are teetotallers. I know 7 is considered a lucky number and they certainly have been fortunate.... they would say it wasn't LUCK, but GOOD, CLEAN livin' and trusting in the Lord. Any birthday party suggestions welcome..

My boyfriend is turning 21 in June and I'd love to throw him a surpise party.

I'd like it to be themed; I've got ideas but I'd appreciate more.

Some thoughts: he's a die-hard Packer fan (sports in general), likes South Park, cars and video games.

If anyone has some drink or food recipes, that would be cool too.

Thanks in advance :D

Friends of my son are having a graduation party for a graduating senior, which is being catered. In the invitation, they asked for an RSVP and $25.00 to attend the party. There was also a note enclosed asking parents to be chaperones at a discounted price of $10.00.
I consider it tacky and in bad taste, my son's and I will not attend. Most of the seniors and parents will NOT attend either.
Hey.......a graduation party is supposed to be fun.............and if the hosts want a party?
throw it.

what does your menu look like? I think it would be nice to get some ideas out there for others who might be putting together a brunch.

As for my Mom's day menu, I'm basing my menu mostly on Food Network's brunch menu. Here's what it looks like:

Grapefruit
Fresh Fruit and mint salad (Food Network)
Orange Glazed Blueberry Scones (Food Network)
Almond Dutch Pancake
Vanilla Dutch Pancake
Bacon Twists (Food Network)
Eggs (any good recipes out there?)
Potatoes
Coffee
Orange Juice
Strawberry Bellini (Food Network)

My boyfriend is throwing me a birthday party. He hired a magican for entertainment.

I thought it would be cute to use plastic top hats and make some paper tissue flowers to go in the center.

What do you think? Any other ideas? I'm really looking for simple ideas.

Thanks

I'm having my 21st birthday lunch or dinner get together with like 10+ people and I was wondering if I had to pay for everything? I'm pretty broke right now! But I don't want to be rude and let them pay. Should I give them party favors? What are you suppose to do?

I'm planning on potato salad, pasta salad, fruit salad but I can't come up with an entree. What meat dish, either hot or cold, will feed a crowd and not cost a fortune?

I am having a party. I am making Chile Verde and Chile Colorado for 70 people. I am using London Broil and Pork Shoulder. How many pounds of meat do I need? I usually go to my local Carniceria and get it. The butcher will chop it for me.

Our close family, (mom, aunts, sisters and myself) are going to be preparing all the food for for my sisters upcoming wedding reception. They did it for mine as well. Since it is goin to be a small wedding (100+ people) it works out great! My question is that I am tryin to find out some new ideas on the food arrangments (fruit, veggies, etc)! I just really need some pics to look at for some ideas, all the research I've done is just turnin up catering sights with their menus. No pics. They've(mom and aunts) hjave done these kinda things quite often since my aunt worked at a bridal shop before and she and my mom have helped with several weddings! I'm just curious about some new things to try out! I want to look like I know what I'm doin too! LOL!! Thanks any links or w/e would be welcome gratefully!!
