My family will be having a birthday/graduation for a 46 year old man. he is just got his bs degree, is religous, has never had a party, talkative-military-man. what can we do to make it a memorable celebration? we already plan to have a bbq type thing but we need to know how to make it more than just a bbq celebration.
so in a nut shell any ideas about the setup, themes, anything that would help us make it a success.

I'm looking for a Party place indoor/outdoor in the GTA for a 1st birthday party to accommodate approximately 24 kids ages 1-11 &13 adults. Prices should be reasonable and the place be fun and interesting. Also it include food for kids and adults but not necessary as well as able to bring your own cake or food . The party is a month away and all suggestions is welcome. If you've use the facilities yourself that would even be better. Thanks

We're having a potluck for a small group (7) African Amerian and Puerto Rican students. I want to bring an appetizer. I could also bring a desert or possibly an alcholic beverage.

I need to plan a shower from a 21 year old who's balking at traditional shower games, etc. She's mentioned having a "goddess party" but I have no idea how to plan such a thing or if it's really appropriate. Any ideas?

My new place is quite small (2 bedroom flat) but warm and cosy. I have a medium sized deck outdoor. Would it be too rude if I stated that only finger food available and it was to be BYO? I'm a single mum and my budget is restricted. It's going to be for adults only though.
Any ideas on food, themes, etc would be appreciated.

It is hard to resist eating popcorn while watching tv or a movie. Can you do it after eating the corn off the cob earlier in the day? What else would you snack on?
