I shall assume that your year ends around June. If this is a party for school, then your theme can be something like "School's Out Forever!". Since June weather can be unpredictable, then you can consider having your shindig anywhere from a tent, to someone's house, to the school auditorium, to a rented space in a hotel etc. Food can be anything from barbecued hot dogs and hamburgers, to shrimp kabobs and sushi! Here are some ideas to keep it simple:
Serve finger foods such as dips, chips, salsa
Cheese platter with grapes and crackers
Sliced meats
Fruit kabobs
Vege platter and ranch dressing
Pasta (with and without meat)
Tortelinni skewers and marinara dipping sauce
Meatballs in barbecue sauce in a slow cooker
Mini hot dogs in crescent rolls
Cupcakes, brownies, and cookies

well if its a party where people drink....a cheese and wine party is fun.everybody brings a bottle of wine in a paper bag and you number the bags leaving the bottle in it....then every once in a while you open a bottle and everyone tries the wine ( you get those smaller cups) and you rate the wine by each person has a notepad and pencil and you write bottle # 6 gross or whatever
then in between you hang out and eat snacks and cheeses
maybe heve a couple of cheese fondues sitting around for people to try with some french bread........its fun
plus sinds people bring a bottle of wine they like...you keep some of the costs down and can spend more on food
