A DECENT COOK SHOP!

If you are in the UK, try www nisbets.com. They are suppliers to the catering trade, but they will sell to the general public as well.

The kit that you will get from Nisbets is professional quality and the saucepans, frying pans (skillets), saute panns etc are a joy to cook with. Furthermore, they are often cheaper than the sometimes inferior cookware that you buy at department stores.

Bourgeat and Vogue are the two best brands in the Nisbets catalogue.

You will also find high quality knives (I use Sabatier), kitchen tools, cutlery, ramekins, dariole moulds and other useful items, along with high-quality kitchen clothing, towels and the like.

Be careful, though, as they sell the lids for saucepans separately.

Finally, I don't work for them, but I'm a trained chef and the kit they sell is excellent. Send for a catalogue now!

stellar saucepans are the best - lovely quality stainless steel and always look as good as new after washing - they are in most good department stores ; though they're a bit expensive so wait for the sales - i got some 10 years ago and they are still as good as new.

What country ?

Most decent sets are going to cost you more than you want to pay but are worth it in the long run.

In UK a better class store like Debenhams or House of Fraser.Depends a bit on where you are. There are better class shops for kitchen ware, refer to your local Yellow Pages to locate them.

I really like my Calphalon set. Crate and Barrel (http://www.crateandbarrel.com) has a really nice set with a good variety of pans for about $300.
