We're having a Chinese food buffet and have hired a palm reader/fortune teller. We'd like to have residents in our building get to know one another. Any ideas for a mixer?

My friend is turning 21 and we want to throw her a surprise party. We have not/can not decide where to have it. One person said they would like to have it at a pool hall (its a nicer pool hall), but they have a cover charge for minors(which some of the people coming will be minors). The person that suggested that said that they would pay the cover charge for all the minors, but even at that some minors do not want to go to a bar type place. What do you suggest? Would it be best to have it at a persons house? Should I try to get it at an eatery? ideas? thought?

I always take something that I love, but it seems everyone loves the same thing. Any suggestions for something that everyone else is not thinking of bringing.

I'm having a Christmas day (5pm) Open House for about 15-20 people. I'll be serving wine, beer, vodka cocktails, and the question is: what kind of hors d'ouerves should I serve? I don't have a big budget, but I'd like to do something classier than cheese and crackers! The crowd is aged 45-60. Thanks!

My husband makes amazing fresh salsa using all fresh (not canned) ingredients. He does not cook the salsa like most recipes say to do, he simply buys the ingredients and chops them up and adds a little vinegar, lime, etc. I am sending a care package to my cousin who is stationed in Iraq for Christmas and we want to send him some salsa because it is his favorite!! It takes about 10-13 days to get there from here and I want to make sure it isn't spoiled when it gets there. We were just going to chop it up and put it in jars and send it. Do you think this will work, since it is in jars? Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!!! Thank you!!

It has been gray, cold and snowy all day. I always crave foods that are salty, greasy and filling on days like this! I am hoping to lose a little weight, though, so what can I eat that will satisfy my Mexican craving but not "break the bank" as far as calories go? Any Taco Bell secrets (I know, not real Mexican) or healthy but tasty quesadilla or nacho recipes?
