I am throwing a surprise 40th birthday party for my husband and I am renting a banquet room at a hotel. I was reading the contract, and it mentions not being able to hang or tape any decorations to the wall or ceiling. If I do, there will be an additional charge. So, how can I still include decorations withing hanging them?

My future mother in law loves to cook, so her fridge was full of leftovers (in pots). (She rarely uses tuberware or anything other then the pots she cooked the food in to store it.) Anyways, I saw a bowl that had beans that were for sure 3 weeks old so I tossed them. My fiance got a call this morning from his mom asking "Where are my beans?!" She got mad at him and said "THOSE BEANS WEREN'T OLD!! They can be refried and there just fine!" Well, my question is, are beans good after being stored for 1 week in a pot and then 2 weeks in a glass bowl? (I put them in the glass bowl, because I heard it is bad to store things in a pot, is this true)? I was just wondering if I am overly cautious...

I´m cooking a recipe with fresh clams and it says to scrub and rinse the clams before cooking. This my first time cooking with fresh shellfish so I´m not to sure what they mean by scrubbing?

Forgive me if this sounds like a stupid question...my boyfriend's Mom tends to give us alot of extra groceries when we visit (which is very nice of her). She gave us some "Juicy Juice" apple juice boxes. My boyfriend and our 3 girls already drank some. As I was getting to make thier school (and work) lunches last night..I noticed the experation date on them is July of 2004! I threw the rest of them away....isn't that bad for them?? I was made aware of and recently watched a video online (Meet Your Meat) about how animals are treated that are in preparation for the meat, eggs, milk that is provided in grocery stores.

Viewing the cruel manner that animals are treated is so cruel, sad and disrespectful of life...making choice to be vegeterian.

What are other healthy sources of protein aside from meat ?

Looking for basics to start.
