For some reason I recall reading somewhere that a martini was only supposed to have an odd number of olives. If this is true, then where did it come from? If untrue, is there an olive "norm"?

I read instructions for makign a ginger beer plant and it says to make it in a sealed container. well i am using a wonton soup container with a water tight and thus an airtight seal. the instructions say to make the plant in a covered jug... is it supposed to be sealed or merely covered? I covered it and the top popped off... wouldnt the solution become carbonated and since co2 is acidic wouldnt it kill the yeast?!?!?!

I just got a pressure canner and want to try my hand at canning chili. I have a great recipe that I cook in the slow cooker but then I got to wondering, if I cook it for five hours and then pressure can it for 90 minutes will it turn to mush? What would be the best way to go about canning it, just cook it in a regular pot until it is ready to serve and then canning it will make the beef tender? Help! (Thanks!)
