A calzone is an Italian turnover made from pizza dough and cheese. It has meat (beef or chicken), vegetables (you will usually find artichoke hearts, spinach, tomato, roasted garlic, onions, mushrooms, and fontina) and Italian cheese (provolone, mozzarella, Ricotta, parmesean; sometimes you'll find Swiss Chard) stuffed inside.

Calzones are often served with marinara sauce or bolognese sauce (a meat sauce). A calzone is a delicious and satisfying meal. I love it with lots of cheese and meat. So when you go to an Italian restaurant, get the calzone. You won't regret it.

it's a folded over pizza minus the sauce. a good calzone will come with the sauce on the side for dipping.

yeah, they're good - kinda like a fancy hot pocket.

Well the ones I have tried were mostly like a pizza in a pocket without the sauce.

It's like a stromboli, except that it's mostly just cheeses, without the tomato sauce. It's great!!

a calzone is a pocket filled with ricotta cheese and something else- pepperoni, sausage, broccoli and then baked. They're awesome- if they're made properly.
