Can anybody give me tips on going from a regular omnivorous diet to a vegan or vegetarian diet? I live with my grandma who loves to cook eggs/ham/bacon/any kind of meat quite often, and I have a metabolism problem that makes it very difficult for me to digest protein. There are no health food stores around my area, and the health food section in my local stores are very small/almost non-existent. Most of what I eat right now are carbs (such as breads, cereal, oatmeal), protein (which I shouldn't), and fats.) I need to find an inexpensive way to incorporate more fruits and veggies into my diet, but I don't know how I can... any suggestions? What do you usually shop for when you look for vegan or vegetarian foods? I'm just going on the diet type thing to stop myself from eating so much protein, and see how I feel after I begin the diet... . Also, do you think I would gain or lose weight on this diet/lifestyle change?

Would this be a major problem at a college campus where they usually serve mostly protein? They do have vegitarian choices... a salad bar and a bowl of fruit, thats it.. Back in my dorm room, I'd have a mini-fridge, and not much money....

my friend keeps telling me im drinking too much water! i have around 4-6 litres a day. i think that the more water drink the better but she doesnt seem to agree.. what is your opinion?? (also my urine is clear usually)

All eggs were cooked at the same time in the pan but 2 eggs from one store could not peel and 6 eggs from another store peeled easily.

ok, a friend and i were arguing about cereal the other day. she was eating the cereal KIX and had one single KIX, but she claimed she was eating a "kick" because it was one individual piece of the cereal. i argued that it was "kix" regardless of the number of pieces.

then i used other examples such as TRIX and TWIX....i told her that you wouldn't call one single trix a "trick" or a single twix a "twik."

any opinions?

It is in my toaster oven and has been cooking for 20 minutes at 350 degrees. When I touch it, it bouches back slightly- the top isnt hard yet and its bubbling a bit.

I do not have any tooth picks to insert into it to check if its ready.

We are in the habit of doing our groceries every two weeks. The last time we brought bananas and kept some in the freezer in order to preserve them for longer. When taken out and thawed, they felt jelly/marshmallow like! Any idea how they can be turned back to normal again?

My cousin's grand mother makes these sugar cubes that take forever to melt in you're mouth. I guess she heats up sugar, water, and some spices maby rose watter, but im not shure of the measurements, spices, or heating time.

it has a shortbread or sugar cookie like base that you pre-bake, then you make a egg & brown sugar mixture (similar to what you would do for a pecan pie filling) but i think you even beat the whites and fold them in. but it has coconut and i believe nuts in the filling. my great-aunt called them cookies what am.... weird name i know but they were the best things on earth and i am pregnate with child number 3 and i have to find them!!!!! have to.... if anyone can help please save me from my depression... i need those cookie bars
