What is it a fifth measure of? A gallon?

This indicates 1/5 of a Gallon; however, since the world is insisting on using the metric system - "fifths" are hard to find, Most liquor is now sold in liters (1 liter = 1000ml; 4000 ml = approx 1 Gallon; 1 gallon is actually 128 ounces or 3840 ml in ounces, pints, quarts, etc.)

Your guess is correct. A fifth is 1/5 gallon.

Yes, it's a fifth of a gallon.
However, that "fifth" has been rounded to 750 ml for a nice even number.

It used to be a fifth of a gallon, but now you only get 750 ml. We old farts who remember the old bottles feel a little cheated, but then we can't drink like we used to, anyway.
