Food & Drink - 16 January 2007

I'm trying to make homemade croutons for a Caesar salad. Before toasting them in the oven, I've tried drizzling olive oil them, or throwing the bread cubes in a frying pan with olive oil and herbs. But the end result is that just the corners or little spots of the cubes soak up the oil, and not the rest. Restaurant/bought croutons have oil evenly distributed all over them, which gives them that slightly-fried texture that I'm looking for. Does anybody have any tips on how to do this?

I am the only one in the house who likes this, but I only have time to cook it on the weekends, so I end up putting the unused portion in the fridge, sealed in Tupperware, for the next weekend. How many days/weeks can I get away with this? At what point does botulisim set in? Help!

As part of a project for health class I must research anorexia. One of the questions on my page is "If one could only drink water, but they couldn't eat how long would one survive until they experieced and physical changes as in body "shut down"? Whenever I drink rum (any type - spiced, dark, puerto rican), my face breaks out in random red bloctches and I have heat flashes. This does not occur whenever drinking any other type of alcohol such as gin, vodka, etc. Does anyone know the reasoning?
