Listed below are tips from the famous and very helpful household tip lady Heloise.

You can avoid the problem by wearing thin, disposable gloves when you handle garlic, onion, fish or other pungent foods. Here are three sure ways to get rid of that nasty smell:

Pour a little salt or baking soda on hands and rub them together. Rinse with water.

Squeeze toothpaste or pour a small amount of mouthwash on one palm, then rub hands together. Rinse with water.

Rub hands across a stainless steel utensil under running tap water.

the perfect way I actually have ever found is to rub a chrome metallic spoon below chilly water. Rub all factors of your hands on the immaculate-metallic below the water and the smell from onions and garlic, magically disappear. It quite does artwork.

Lemon juice works great, or I heard that if you rub your hands back and forth on a stainless steel sink, the smell will go away. Don't you hate it when your hands smell garlicy? Ahh!

This is going to sound like an old wives' tale, but it really works for me.

While washing your hands under cold running water with soap, hold a metal spoon. I don't know why it works, but it always does for me! And it works for onions too.
