Whenever I drink rum (any type - spiced, dark, puerto rican), my face breaks out in random red bloctches and I have heat flashes. This does not occur whenever drinking any other type of alcohol such as gin, vodka, etc. Does anyone know the reasoning?

MY best friend has this happen! She takes antihistamines and it goes away. It something to do with too much liquor in her system. But its only rum for her too. Try benodryl

There must be something in the rum that is making you break out. You should check out the ingredients in rum and other types of drinkies and compare the differences. This might give you an idea as to why this is happening.

Or just try not to drink rum as you already know the outcome.

it could be the sulfides in the rum, but again it could just be the temporary temperature rise that some people get when they first ingest some alcoholic beverages

I would do some checking and avoid rum if that's the only culprit
