Since we don't have a lot of money right now, we agreed not to buy each other anything for our birthdays (his is July 12, mine is July 24) - instead we are combining our funds and taking a 3-day trip to Calgary to do sightseeing and such. But it feels wrong not to get him something... should I just buy him something or not?? I don't want him to feel obligate to get me something just because I did it.

If I've been with someone for a year and a half, and plan to eventually marry, would buying a house within a year be a bad idea? We don't have a perfect relationship. We do fight. But the commitment is strong. I'm just concerned about the legalities of the whole thing if there ever is a problem. Not that I expect it. I'm just trying to be you know, adult-like and logical. I know people who got stuck with someone in a mortgage when they weren't married and it caused some serious problems. But paying rent really sucks. I could be making a house payment that is lower than rent and actually get some investment off of it. And no, I've never seen "The Break Up"

I simply want to know why it is that my mother in law still has a say in where me and my man stays, works, goes on holiday, when we will get married etc.
I know she doesn't like me, but why if she knows he's happy with me does she keep sticking her nose in our relationship, and tries her best to sabotage our being together by putting words in my mouth.

Have been with my boyfriend for 1 year, who is 7 years older and has been divorced twice. Both his exwives are nut cases and he carries much baggage. He and his 6 year old son live with me. His other 2 children are not allowed to see him. He was making good money but lost his job. He is a very big procrastinator who is very much in debt only making $10 an hour all his money goes to his truck and child support. I pay for my house and all the bills to include his son. He say's he loves me but I can't help but think he's using me because without me he wouldn't be able to keep his son or pay his truck payment. When I tell him how I feel he gets mad. How do I really know he loves me other than him telling me. He does make me feel good. He has a history of cheating and likes to flirt. which is hard for me because my last husband cheated. Should I give him more time? His ex's cause a lot of problems, so much baggage. Is it worth it? Please help.

When talking about her work, my girlfriend tends to complain about the same things over and over. Usually the complaints are about the mundane stupid things her coworkers do that upset her. I want to be supportive, but I find myself unable to pay attention since I already know what she is going to say and there is no hope of her coworkers every changing. My girlfriend can tell that I am not paying attention no matter how hard I try to look enthused. Any tips?

We've been married for 12 years and have 2 kids. He works most nights and I work mornings. I think we're "normal", he thinks we don't have sex nearly as often as most other people. Enlighten us please!

I know that i still love him very much but still can't forget the pain that he caused me when he broke up with me saying he's getting along again with his ex (his long term girlfriend). Last night i can't believe what had happened...he is crying when he called me up and saying that he's getting married by next year when he get back in our country... and now they are already engaged! He say those words while he is crying! He keeps on telling me that he is still very much in love with me but just can't hurt the other girl's feeling... He told me that he is confuse of his situation. I don't know why he still say that he loves me despite of the fact that he can't let go of somebody else. Please help =(

Is it good or bad and does it cause problems for you and your spouse?

I'm fortunue enough to have good in-laws and get along very well with them, but I have friends who don't get along with their in-laws and it seems to take its toll on their relationship.

you've had a wonderful relationship with your partner for say 20/30 years & one of you dies. You're gutted & promise to " wait for each other to be re-united" After a while you meet someone else, perhaps marry etc & have maybe 20 or so happy years with them too. When you then snuff it & your original partner is waiting at the pearly gates for you does it all kick off cos you've been with somebody else?Does Peter have to get between you like them blokes on Jeremy Kyle?
