Not really, its just taken a different disguise. Todays society definitely has taken a toll on the value of family, but its still there. It may not be as us older folks knew with a one wage earner. Todays society has put a different strain on it requiring both people in a relationship to work to provide a good or decent life style with todays prices so the family suffers because of it, parents arent able to spend as much time with their children growing up or are just plain too tired so the kids suffer. One just has to come with more genious ideas of how to deal with family, work, school, and such but it can and is being done, the family of yesteryear is gone and todays family will probably succome to the familys of tomorrow, but life goes on and although there is a shortage of this today, love will conquer all and help us all through all of this, but TV doesnt help much of anything and actually works at destroying the bonds of love and family by corrupting family morals

I truly believe that TV is the reason that the families have, as you say, melted away. It used to be that before TV kids ate dinner with their parents and really talked to each other. Now, people sit in front of the TV to eat, parents park their little ones in front of the TV as a babysitter and kids would rather watch TV than talk to anyone. I see families that dont have TV and they are as close as they can be. I'm sure families still love each other, but entertainment has become more important.

It depends on the family. I know many that are still very close while my own is not. Society is a constantly changing thing; there will always be the extremes.
