No. If the marriage is over in all but legal terms, and you are waiting for the papers to be finalized, then there's no reason either of you could not date. One thing some potential dates may question though, is how long have you been apart from your former spouse, because no one wants to be the "rebound" person.
Make sure you are ready to date, after a marriage or dating relationship ends...have the needed closure and when you feel you are ready to move forward without a lot of baggage, then it's fine to date and share with someone else.
Some states require a separation period of 6 mos. to a year before divorce papers can be filed. There's no reason a person in such a situation shouldn't feel they can date during that time, if they desire to do so, and are emotionally ready.
You'll also find some people who won't date a person who has their "divorce pending" simply because you hear stories of couples getting back together, or some people lie about being separated as a way to cheat while married. But as far as it being "wrong" to date before the papers are finalized, there's no reason it should be.

Morally or legally? Legally, I have no idea. Morally I say as long as you are completely over your marriage go for it. But if you just want or need to be in a relationship just for the sake of not being alone, then be alone. Don't drag any baggage to someone else. I hope that didn't sound accusative. I'm not trying to be judgmental.

Not wrong, but it sends a confusing message. Complete this portion of your life, then move on.
It isn't over until the paperwork is done.

It's just a piece of paper at this point, if you are being honest. Just be sure to be very up-front about it with whoever you date.

Are you divorcing because your spouse cheated while you were married. If your divorce is not final it would be the same thing.
