punching a wall instead of punching someone.Should i have punched him instead?

He wasn't a friend he was an idiot who was hitting a female so i went to rescue her . he kicked her then ran off but b4 he kicked her i had a chance to hit him but just pushed him off her.

Yes, you would have been well within your rights to have punched the other person. But you proved to be noble and showed you were the better person by trying to prevent him from hurting a woman. So, well done - I hope the hand heals soon!
I have also broken my hand (all my fingers) in the past at the hands of a derranged boyfriend and no-one came to my aid so I can appreciate the situation well.

its very wrong too punch some one in the face
the head is much harder than the fist, i broke my hand doing that.
try headbutting 1st then grab the back of the head pulling them down and start kneeing them in the face
if u dont fancy the head butt opinion a kick in the bollocks will floor any1.
i hate people who hit lasses
they scum
and if u disagree pop round to my house and we'll discuss it till u bleed

If you were up for it you should have kicked the siht out of him. Chivalry is not dead while decent guys like you are there to look after vulnerable ladies. Good on you and sorry about the wall.

That's cool. I did that once too... But felt pretty stupid telling them I hit the wall... So, I just told them about the rescuing part... :-)
