I'm 24 and my husband and I live next door to my mother and father and also my sister and nephews. We are a close family--we have dinner together at mom's every night and I watch my sister's kids while she works and goes to school. Last night I was checking my voice mail messages (I was expecting a message from drs. office about the results of a preg test) and my mother picked up the extension. I said "mom, hang up" she did. Later when I tried to call her she didn't answer-which was strange. My husband went over to take her some groceries she'd asked for and he asked if everything was ok--she said yes, she just wasn't going to answer the phone anymore. I finally got her to pick up by calling from my sis's house and asked what was wrong. She said I had told her to "hang up the f-ing phone" so she was pissed. She then hung up on me. What am I suppossed to do? She won't speak to me and I can't stand anyone being angry at me--especially my mom! Please, help!

My hubands exwife had an affair forceing my husband to live somewhere else .meanwhile she got in touch with the csa to claim money from him even though he still played a part in their upbringing .We met and things got worse . she expected him to provide for the children but then stopped him having any contact so he had to go to a solicitor which cost more money. This went to court .The children were dumped with her family while she went out on so many occasions that both me and my husband applied for custody as we were both in employment and could support the the children without any benefits and could give the children a secure and stable home. The day of the court case the mother stated that she could support the children without any help from anywhere and had a stable loving home for them. As u know the courts favour the mother over the father in these cases so she got custody. in fact the children were homeless as their mother had spent h b on fun.Why does this info mean nothing

our seven year old daughter has just sprung the question on us
"what is a sex offender?"
assume shes picked it up from the news,
thought about it but most explanations i came up with will probably result in the next question being what is sex.
after a simple way to answer without leading to too many extra questions!

My girlfriend and I have been seriously dating now for several years. I love her very much. She comes from a very difficult childhood situation, and while I don't know every detail, I know her mother was controlling and what I would consider emotionally abusive. I suspect her mother may suffer from some sort of emotional problem that caused her controlling behavior.
Occasionally we are over at her parents house for functions and her mother orders her around (i.e. ordering her to "Come!" when her presence is needed), tells her she eats "much", and every visit has a moment where the mother starts screaming about some trivial thing (i.e. a napkin not folded right)
My girlfriend won't stop going over as its rare and she does need time with her mother, but when I'm there my skin burns and I want to slap the mother for her cutting words and actions against my grilfriend. When we leave my girlfriend always cries.
What action do I have the right to take if any? How to support my girl?

I think we bought the wrong aerosol paint. Should we just get some more and spray them beige instead. It's got to better than Jaffa Orange colour.

I'm the oldest of three girls, one sister lives two hours from me and the other lives 3000 miles away. My sister that lives the farthest away always makes it out to visit us during the holidays. And she usually stays at my house because we are closest to the airport and we have the room for her. This causes problems with my other sister whom lives two hours away, she never says it but she implies that it's not fair. Should I stay out of it and let the other two solve this on their own? It's a very touchy subject and I really don't know how to keep the peace.....

It's costing a fortune to feed and it would make a nice change from turkey. I think it would be educational for the children too.

We had been in a school group together for a few months, so we knew each other, but we never really talked outside the group. Recently I added her to my friends list on Facebook, and she became very friendly to me; sitting next to me in class with lots of open seats available, specifically waiting for ME after an exam, offering to share her umbrella. I've also noticed her looking at me in class, and when I look back at her she quickly turns away. I just get the feeling she likes me from these and other little things, but I'm no expert. Any opinions

My mother has been harrassing me about eating to much. She always gets on my case and yells at me that I am fat. That is one reason I moved away to go to college. However the few times I have gone home for few times she starts yelling at me saying that I am fat. This is really serious because I have let it tear down my self-esteem and sefl-confidence. She is my mother and not supposed to say these things to me. Isn't she suppose to love me as me? I am NOT fishing for SYMPATHY. I just want to know what to do, because she makes my life a living hell. I am 5 ft 4' and about 113 lbs. What the hell is wrong with her? I am stressed, upset and mad. I have confronted her but all we wind up doing is yelling at each other. I need serious answers only, and please tell me what I can do!! I have about had it!!!!!

Last year my MIL did not save enough to pay her taxes, so she asked her children for the money. In a private meeting (because MIL was embarrassed), her 2 kids gave her the $4,000 for taxes. This year she is having trouble paying her utility bill, so my wife wants to pay it. MIL's live in boy freind of 10 years makes a good income and is currently paying $500 a month to dock his 30 foot boat.

My wife thinks that since they are not married the boyfreind's expenses are of no concern. I claim its common law marriage and he needs to get rid of the boat before we start paying their utility bill. How do I get my wife to see my point and MIL to stop asking us for money?
