Where I live it sleeted 2-3 inches and then snowed 7-14 inches and my dad who lives across town called me to take him to WalMart to get dog food and I said no because the roads are too bad and he got mad at me...was I wrong for saying no? Also I have 3 kids age 9, 2, and 8 months..I live upstairs in an apartment and there is ice on the steps..

Let me add a few things...my dad signed for me to get married to a man 5 years older than me when I was 16 so he wouldn't have to pay child support, I am now taking care of his youngest daughter because he failed to report abuse and continued to let her go into the care of a rapist....also he only calls when he needs something from me...so me paying a cab bill for him is not happening...

Tell him to call a cab and that you will pay for the bill. This way he can't be so mad. But you were not wrong at all. But if I usually give my father a ride to the store I would have called him a few days ago and reminded him it is going to be bad out for a few days and if he needed something you were going to the store. I know you have your own family and own things to worry about but you need to think of him too.

No, you were not wrong. Your reasoning says so. The safety of you and your children ensures that you will be around to help him another day when it is safe to drive. My dad is bull headed but if you can talk to yours, just tell him that you didn't want to get hurt or hurt his grandchildren. It wasn't about not doing what he needed but it was about showing concern for your family's safety, try adding "just like you were with me".
It will go away soon if he is mad, just continue to talk to him as normal because it's not a huge deal, he will be okay once he realizes you weren't being mean to him just being a parent at that time.

You did good girlfriend. I would've done the same. May God bless you. I applauder you for saying no, It would have been Impossible for you to go. Especially across town and in snow and ice.
