a close friend just found out that her husband has an affair when she was 8 month's pregnant. The boy is now 4 months old and the affair is still going on. Her husband thought she didn't know about it, but has told her that he doesn't love her anymore. Although he still sleeps at home most of the time, he rented a small flat for him and the woman to meet up (she found the contract).

My friend was very upset and wanted to save the marriage. She said she had neglected him in the past as she was busy at work, and has to look after another boy. She was devastated but has remained calm since it happened, and told him that she will wait for him whatever happens.

I don't know what to do to help. She is very close to me. They met when they were in the university and have been married for 11 years. I thought the man just wanted to try something exciting for a while but he seems very serious.

Only serious advice please.

A month ago, I met a guy who lives in my dorm. He's a senior in undergrad and I am a graduate student. We chat over IM often. One day, he randomly asks me to borrow a calculator. I thought that was odd, especially since I am sure I am not the only one he could have borrowed a calculator from. But whatever. Yesterday, he comes to get it and asks to see my room. I told him no. We chatted a little while longer and then I walked him to the elevator. He tries to put his arm around me but I kind of pulled away. Reflex, I guess. Later, we're chatting over IM and I asked him when he was coming to visit me again. He said he didn't feel welcome because I didn't invite him to see my room. Is this guy serious? Then he asked me what I want from him and I told him friendship. But now I'm wondering, what is HE looking for? He says he would prefer to know about me and then when he's satisfied, he'll tell me everything I want to know about him. Does this make ANY sense?

My ex broke up with me a couple of weeks ago. I really like him so it's been rough trying to get past it. But it's become increasingly difficult now that he wants to be friends. We talked last night and he was mentioning that he wanted to hang out and go get coffee or go bowling next week like we used to. I told him that I was hesistant about the idea and he asked why. Then at the end of our convo he called me by the pet name that he used for me when we were going out. I called him by his name and he asked me why I didn't call him by the nickname I had for him. Huh?!? I don't want to be one of those girls he just "hangs out" with because he means so much more to me than that. I don't want to end what we have left but it's just awkward being friends with someone who knows so much about you and has seen everything...emotionally and physically...that you have to offer.
Advice?

I think she is acting immaturely. There is definitely a line that can't be crossed w/in a relationship, some things that just can't be said but rather must be "uncovered" or realized byt the other person. But she is playing games. I sense her feelings for me are real (and strong, so WTF!), but she won't let them develop. And I am getting pissed off. So, again, how can I tell her? Can I tell her anything? I have been kind and patient so far and I don't want to burn the bridge. But I just don't get it: we tried, it was going well, so she had to end it? So weird! I already know she has been hurt in the past (which is why I have been passive so far) but now it's like she wants to keep hurting herself by denying this.

We have not seen my 8 year old stepson in 4 months due to issues with his mom. He is coming for the weekend and going back home Monday. My husband is planning to go out with friends on Saturday and will be leaving around 9pm. The kids usually go to bed around twelve on weekends. We stay up late watching movies and then sleep in the next morning. I think he should put his family first and stay home with us. He sees nothing wrong with going out and normally I wouldn't care it's just that I think he should spend as much time as he can with his son. My husband is trying to twist things around saying I am mad because I have to be responsible for one more child-which is not true! The kids get along great! It's actually easier when my stepson is here because the boys entertain each other. I think my husband is being selfish. Am I wrong for getting mad?

My twin sister just left her husband of 19 years yesterday & although their marriage is not one that I would like myself, I want to help them get back together. Her & her boys are staying with me but they are both so pig headed that no one will make the first move to try & work it out. A girl I fancy at work was texting me all over the holidays. I mean I got over 30 texts from her in the space of a few days. I dropped the hint that I did not know what I was doing for New Year's Eve. That night she offered me to spend it with her and her friends. At first it was supposed to be in another city. Then she text me to say it was in another state and we'd need to fly there. So before agreeing I figured I needed to know exactly what kind of relationship is developing here. So I asked her was she inviting me as a friend or something more because I really like her. I had an inkling she has a boyfriend but I know they are having probs and thought it might be over. She responded telling me she has a boyfriend, that she is sorry and I am lovely. I said I was sorry for getting the wrong idea, that she is a lovely girl and I feel lucky just to be friends. She replied with saying Im a brilliant guy and she is so glad she knows me.
