Is it better to leave your AC on all day at a higher temp ( I have a small animal in the home) or is it better to turn it on and off as needed. I have heard the amount of electricity to start an AC is worse than maintaining it. Anyone know for sure?

Because a former subletter to my old apartment was stupid and duplicated too many of the apartment keys, I was left with extra ones. I didn't want to throw them in the trash and risk some homeless people finding them.

(My apartment had a lovely view of the dumpster--homeless people and other types often scavanged through the trash to find stuff--I have to admit, people threw out lots of good things!)

However, I do not know what to do with these old keys. I've moved away from that apartment, but it seems like such a shame to throw them away. Suggestions?

I work at a clothing store and we use plastic bags. Why can't they start making paper ones like the ones they have at American Eagle and Guess, for example? How can I address this issue to the people in charge of making these types of decisions???

Well first we had global warming. But then we had to change the name of that to global climate change to make it cover every single weather phenemeon, including bitter cold. So I thought I would take the movement to the next logical step: Stamp out Global Everything!!! All change is bad!! Let's stop it all!! First, I need your contributions. Email me and I will tell you how to contribute. Then I think I will organize a concert with aging rockers and sparse crowds. I think that should get me off to a good start! Wish me luck!!

Stop Global Everything!!!

I mean we sold them for 2 years and now have the technology where you don't need a special plug in and it gets 300 miles a charge. The hydrogen isn't practical and the hybrid still uses gas. I want a car that never needs gas. How do you all feel?

The Observer
Climate change over the next 20 years could result in a global catastrophe costing millions of lives in wars and natural disasters.A secret report, suppressed by US defence chiefs and obtained by The Observer, warns that major European cities will be sunk beneath rising seas as Britain is plunged into a 'Siberian' climate by 2020. Nuclear conflict, mega-droughts, famine and widespread rioting will erupt across the world. The document predicts that abrupt climate change could bring the planet to the edge of anarchy as countries develop a nuclear threat to defend and secure dwindling food, water and energy supplies. The threat to global stability vastly eclipses that of terrorism, say the few experts privy to its contents. 'Disruption and conflict will be endemic features of life,' concludes the Pentagon analysis. 'Once again, warfare would define human life.

I remember my great grandpa claiming, and it was later supported by both sets of grandparents, that the whole cause of our environmental problems was because they shot a rocket into space, and that put a hole in the ozone layer, and every time they launch another rocket it only makes more holes in the atmosphere.

It turns out that a LOT of really old people believe(d) these kinds of myths and insist they are true.

So that means we have a consensus.

From what I've been hearing with the climate change debate, once you have a consensus, the time for debate is over, and the time to act is NOW. And besides, what if they are wrong? Isn't it better to act responsibly on the chance that they are right?

So, does this mean we should end the space program and no longer launch satellites, because OLD PEOPLE believe that it is causing holes in the atmosphere?

I mean, WHAT IF THEY ARE RIGHT? Are we willing to take a chance with our children's future? A consensus warned us!

Since environmentalist began protesting logging and forest management in our national forests, it seems massive forest fires are becoming more of an issue and common place in regards to managing our timberlands and wildlife here in the U.S.... What are your views about our national forests?

California basically generates almost all of the power within it's state with natural gas fired generators. There are emission reduction systems which achieve almost zero emissions, yet it isn't required to be that clean so the power generators don't use this technology. The best available emissions control technology should be used on this power generation equipment.

You plug your car in the wall every day and drive it every day. How many miles to a buket of coal do you get. And that is if that is the closest plant to you.

Whether or not mankind has a significant influence on global warming seems to a bit of a moot point. Shouldn't there be a greater concern for the depletion of the resources that are the cause of this? For example, the depletion of fossil fuels is projected within the next 200 years or less.

It seems like we should first be concentrating on the depletion of our nonrenewable resources first, as any connection it may have to global warming would be further reduced once it is solved.

What are your ideas on the "problem?"

I'm curious as to a lot of the different arguments people have for and against global warming. Do you believe it? Does Al Gore's video add or lessen your opinion on global warming and does his credibility build or bring down your feelings... what about the polar bears? Please don't be deragatory to other people's opinions and be honest. I am researching to be more informed so I can make an informed decision on where I stand, and am curious to know others' arguments and opinions?

What is the UN doing about it?

There are many countries like China, Mexico, India, etc. who are dumping so many pollutants into our air and water and making people and animals sick. Is this intentionally ignored to support the healthcare industry and cheap labor?

Who is behind the spread of the all of a sudden Global Warming when all this pollution is not being stopped or at least drastically slowed down by using proper stack scrubbers and filters?

What about public transportation? You can see them coming from a mile away by the pollution in the air.

How about jet pollution? This is old news.

Pro-own house may take some investment to make it energy efficient and green but you don't contribute to destroy more trees, etc. for example.

I am Nuclear Engineer and have always been interested in solar power. I have friends with it, but always thought it could not be practical for most of us because of cost. I love the approach Ed Begley and these people have taken. It is a great idea, and may be the way we can really take advantage of this wonderful energy supply.
