it leaves more CO2 in the atmosphere, but also where 300 years ago there were forest and the snow pack would melt more slowly due to the effects trees have on the amount of sun that reaches the ground, there are now malls, parking, lots, highways, and even suburbna areas. near my house in New York, my yard can have no snow left in it( not many trees to block the sun) while up in the wood a few hundred meters from my house there can be up to 20 inches of wet snow left into early april. so does cutting down trees reduce the length of time snow is on the ground significnatly?

Up until Thursday I believed that global warming had been brought about by mankind pumping out carbon emissions as preached to us by politicians and so called mainstream scientists.

However, after watching 'The Great Global Warming Swindle' on Channel 4 (to be repeated this Monday evening on More4) I am now convinced that this is all a lie!

As the programme showed we have had fluctuations in climate before - such as the mini ice age of the 17th century and a previous period of global warming back in the 13th century when there were vineyards producing quality wine in the north of England - both well before the industrial revolution.

The programme also systematically debunked the claims made in Al Gore's 'An Inconvenient Truth' and showed them to be just pure and utter nonsense.

Is there just a mass conspiracy by the developed nations to try and blame global warming on man made activities in order to thwart the economic growth of developing nations such a China?

We have several small holes in our yard that are covered with moss when small cone shaped hilltop is removed from the ground there are leaves and twigs covering the inside of the hole. The hill is about 4-6 inches high and covered in moss. The hole is about 1-1 1/2" wide. It doesn't have the mud ball shape like a crawfish usually does. We haven't seen anything going in or coming out but the hill stays soft so far.

Tony Blair announced this week that we should all switch over to energy light bulbs and the normal light bulbs should be banned in two years time. That's fine but you can't use flourescent energy light bulbs with dimmer swithes so is there another type or will we all have to buy new dimmer switches?

Well, you know how when you take aluminum to some places, you can trade them in for a small amount of cash? (It's never a lot, but you can get a few bucks from a garbage bag full)... Well, why is it that only aluminum is the only thing that brings in that small bit of cash?

If we were to have cash trades for papers and plastics, wouldn't recycling rates go up?

So, what is the reason why only aluminum is bought back, and not other recyclables, like glass or plastic?

It seems from reading answers to question about growing plants no one has a clear idea as to how much biomass is generated or how much growth can be forced by conditions sometimes found in nature. So it seems someone should do the math and determine the parimeters on photosysthesis potental.

it basically proves that global warming and climate change is a natural process and caused by solar activity.

It has fully convinced me!!!

And when it comes to co2 emissions the oceans give off more than anything else. Humans only contribute to a single digit percentage each year.

Anyone else had their mind changed by this show?
