Compounds such as lactic acid and acetone attract mosquitoes... Also a compound called Octenol...

Mosquitoes are attracted by carbon dioxide and lactic acid from your breath. Both things are heavier than air, which is why mosquitoes don't go very high. If you stand on a balcony you won't get bitten.

mosquitoes are attracted to still water. so anywhere water collects your sure to find a mosquitoe lurking some where.
