What effects do major bodies of water have on the water, including hurricanes, cyclones, and tsunamis?

Do you mean "what effects do major bodies of water have on weather"? If that is the question then warm water is fuel for those storms, however tsunamis are not weather related but geologically with regards to landslides and earthquakes.

If I am remembering correctly the major bodies of water is typically what "feeds" these beasts. I know with a hurricane as soon as it hits land it rapidly loses strength. For example, when Ivan hit Pensacola, it was a category 4 right before it hit and right after it dropped in intensity rapidly. I know. I live in Pensacola.
