I'm entered in a competition called J8. Basically we (as in the youth of today!) have to present our ideas on climate change to the G8 summit. I'm looking for facts, figures, useful websites, any new ideas for solutions... anything you think might possibly be useful!! thank you! x

Should the federal government contact farmers across the country and ask them if they would be intrested in a biomass power generation device using plant and other waste material from there farm paid for entirely with grant money which would generate green energy and extra income for them? Would this be a good use of tax dollars? Democrats would sign onto it because it would help the enviroment by generating green global warming free energy? Republicans would sign onto it because it helps farmers and the economy. It would help create energy independence helping disentangle us from the middle east as well. Open bid contracts would have to be used to make sure it was done as cheaply as possible but I have an example of one such device here. http://ge.ecomagination.com/@v=020220071742@/site/index.html#jenb/introduction

When prominant scientists say that man-made global warming is a myth it falls on us to evaluate the evidence.
According to the popular theory which blames man for global warming, we are putting too much CO2 into the atmosphere and this greenhouse gas is trapping more heat, thereby warming our planet.
There are several problems with this explanation. 1. ice-cores, 100'000s of years old, demonstrate that throughout climate history CO2 is liberated as a result of natural global warming. It is NOT the cause of the warming. 2. the increase in CO2 is measured in parts per BILLION. CO2 is not even a very effective greenhouse gas. 3. water vapour is several magnitudes more effective. If we are seeing a greenhouse effect then the stratosphere should be warming much faster than the planet's surface and there should be greater cloud coverage. This is not happening. 4. since there have been several ice-ages and temperate ages it makes more sense to blame sun activity for climate change.

There was a program on British tv recently that claimed that CO2 concentration lagged global temperature. This means that if you put them both on a graph together, peaks and lows of CO2 occur AFTER peaks and lows of global temperature. This is, they say, because CO2 concentration in the oceans is reduced as global temperatures increase and therefore collects in the atmosphere.

Global temperatures are, they say, driven by solar activity that is related to sunspot activity. They then produced a graph that did indeed show a very strong relationship between the two. They also produced a graph showing the relationship between CO2 and global temperatures for the same duration and the relationship was not nearly so clear?

What is the defense of CO2 driven global warming theorists to this?

I have sold my car and now walk everywhere and use public transport to try and reduce my carbon footprint. It takes me almost twice as long to get to work and I really want my car back - especially when it is cold. How can I make the journey to work easier or reduce my footprint another way? I live in London but work in Kent.
