Easy.
Bricks and blocks require no fancy chemicals in their manufacture, and the bricks and blocks themselves will never leach out any poisonous or environmentally dangerous substances in any form, solid, liquid, or gaseous. ALSO, blocks and brick last decades, and even centuries ! and the vast vast majority do not need to be replaced with more of the same. They resist penetration of wind-driven objects in hurricanes and tornadoes, requiring no replacement as vinyl siding would, so there would be less wasted, storm-damaged siding going to landfills. Furthermore, some manufacturers take in medical waste glass objects where they are melted leaving zero bio-hazzard germs or viruses behind, diverting health-hazzards from "storage" or incubation in landfills. Also, just in case of fire, bricks and blocks resist the spread of fire to other materials that would burn, helping to shield fire away from substances that emit poisons and carbon dioxide and C-monoxide and toxic chemicals if burned. Also, of course, brick and block will not add fuel to a fire or produce any toxins even if involved in a fire. Furthermore, bricks and block provide a lag-effect concerning thermal transfer, so the cool of the night will last through the day and the heat of the day will last to the night time when it can cool down, perhaps easing some of the stress on heating and cooling. They're a super choice for environmental issues.
