when the smoke from the factories gets into the clouds, those toxic materials fall down with the rain.

Acid rain is caused by pollutants such as Sulfur Dioxide(SO2) and Carbon Dioxide (CO2) being released into the atmosphere. They dissolve in water vapour in the clouds, creating very weak, or in some cases up to pH5 carbolic or sufuric acid. Rain is naturally slightly acidic due to carbon dioxide from respiration and sulfur dioxide from volcanic activity. Pollutants released due to impurities in fossil fuels have made the problem worse. It can kill plants and animals, if it gets into the water supply it can give humans indigestion or make their hair turn green! Putting slaked lime(Calcium Hydroxide) into factory chimneys produces a reduction reaction which prevents the sulphur dioxide from reaching the atmosphere and can help solve the problem.
Overall, acid rain is just rain with a pH of below 7, although noone really makes a fuss until it reaches about 6.

Acid rain is formed by sulphur oxides ( e.g. sulphur dioxide = SO2 ) and nitrogen oxides (e.g. NO2 nitrous oxide)which comes from burning particularly coal or general fossil fuels as well as some discharge from the factories are chemically joined with the moisture in the air which makes rain water. The result of this mixture is sulphuric acid and nitric acid respectively.
One important thing to remember is the following. Because SOx and NOx are gases and the formation of acid in the atmosphere takes time until it rains, it is usually the acid rain damages places far from its sources. I hope this is helpful.

Caused from pollution nearby. The pollution will evaporate with the rest of the water. The pollution is slightly acidic (less than 7 on the pH scale). When the rain falls back down, it upsets the ecosystem, making the ground it falls on acidic, and damages cars and buildings.

Acid rain is really any precipitation that has dissolved acid ingredients on its way down. It can dissolve CO2 gas (carbon dioxide from combustion) It can dissolve nitrogenoxides formed from internal combustion engines. It can dissolve HCl, hydrochloric acid, from industrial processes. It can dissolve sulfur oxides from burning high sulfur coal and petroleum. It affects plants, paint on cars and homes, statues, as well as lakes. It can make it hard to breath.

hi
acid rain = HCO3
acid rain product by reacting (CO2 + H2O) from the sky when rain start and come to down from sky on to the land , rain react with CO2 from atmospher as showen
CO2 + H2O -----------------------> HCO3 + H
