To me is not about global warming...but how long can we depend on a region of the world that seems to be based on TRIBALISM. For National Security: Would the smart thing to do is to get independant with our own energy source...I think we have the basic understanding to make the leap and let Arabs and Persians eat their own oil. What do you think?

use of genetically modified plants and fertilizer run-off in our waterways, are these eco-friendly fuels really an environmental trade-off.

Also, ethanol in particular takes more energy to produce than it yields.

(Please note, this isn't a question about any alternative fuel other than biofuels ... you don't have to tell me about hydrogen, et al)

Recently 60 "scientists" called on Candian PM Stephen Harper to "revisit science on global warming". What is more interesting is who these people are and who's interest they really represent.

People that deny global warming - these dishonest people are the source of your information! Please look at this before believing the nonsense that they preach.

Copy of the letter to PM Harper: (lists "scientists" at bottom)

Who are the 60?

I know that the greenhouse effect is caused mainly because carbon dioxide gets trapped in the atmosphere, and the sun's heat cannot escape the earth. But why does the carbon dioxide get trapped in the atmosphere? Is it the earth's gravity holding it down?

I keep thinking that if I saved my junk mail for a year, it'd be equivalent to a dozen trees. Very scary.

As a side note: have signed on to lists to not receive junk mail but still get them anyway. Anyone have any good ideas, solutions out there? Thanks in advance.
