Sun is the main source of energy.supplying heat & light energy for millions of years .It is estimated sun will continue to give energy for a few more million years. All energy sources like wind , water, geothermal, tidal etc. are linked to sun. If the solar energy available in deserts can be tapped , it can supply continuous energy for the entire globe.
Another form of energy is biomass.Plants & animals form the biotic environment. The dead and decayed parts if allowed to accumulate on earth's surface will rot and pollute the surroundings. Converting biomass into biogas reduces pollution.comparatively cheaper, it is a renewable source.

Here is what I'm doing. 1- reduce the amount of electricity I use in my house, this is easier than you may think. I set my thermostat at 80 in the summer, I open the windows when it's cooler outside, I use fans instead of a/c. I reduce standby energy by unplugging all chargers when not in use, plugging tv, vcr, stereo and game system into a power strip with a swithc, I turn the power strip off when tv isn't on, this saves a lot of energy. I switched bulbs to CFL's, and changed some of my light fixtures to models that used fewer bulbs. 2- my city has a green energy program, they commit to buying energy from a clean renewable source in the amount that all the participants use, It cost me about $10 more per month. 3- I just installed solar panels on my roof. Not everyone can make this large of a financial commitment, but those that can should. 4- I've owned a Prius for 6 years, we now own 2 hybrids. I still limit my driving as much as possible. We are avid cyclists and my husband commutes to work often on his bike. I believe it will take a personal commitment to change the nations way of thinking, we can all reduce the amount of electricity and gas we use. The evidence is simple we are using more energy per person than we ever have.

Solar energy is the most efficient and dependable sorce of renewable energy. The sun radiates so much heat that the whole of India can use solar energy in place of all sources such as petrol,CNG,PNG and natural gas.
The sun is a huge storehouse of energy which is just waiting to be used up.But the problem is that we dont have the technology to use it in our day to day life. The solar heaters and cookers that are available in the market are too expensive for the common man. When technology comes up with an instrument to channelize the huge amount of solar energy the earth receives,Im sure that that dat no one will remain a poor man

Nuclear energy. Huge amounts of energy can be liberated with far more efficiency than any other form of renewable energy. However the disposal of the radioactive waste and the cost of setting up nuclear reactors are the reason why it is not as popular as it could be. Solar energy is inefficient, while hydroelectric power is often harmful to the environment.

Solar power is. The energy from the sun (itself a giant ball of hydrogen undergoing nuclear fusion) is what heats our planet, provides light, and powers our seasonal weather systems (wind and hydro are essentially solar powered). Even non-renewable hydrocarbon fuel sources consist of solar energy that has been converted chemically and stored underground for millions of years.

Only a very tiny cone of light ever reaches our planet's surface. If we could directly harness all of the sun's nuclear energy, it would likely provide human civilization all the energy it needed to colonize the galaxy.

Well,if you go to see,the most efficient energy resource is geothermal energy. What is geothermal energy? It is the energy inside the earth. We can use it any time without harming nature. How do we harness it?By sending pipes filled with water deep under the earth. The earth's heat pressurizes the water and sends it back up onto the earth at very high pressures. This pressurized water is used to generate power.Sun and wind cannot be used as all time.Tidal and hydroelectric power plants damage the environment.

tutorgirl, bad answer! Hydro energy DESTROYS rivers and valleys, and is NO GOOD!
But the answer solar redeemed yourself!
Yes solar is, at the time being, THE CHEAPEST energy sorce we have!
Ive said this numerous times, The Federal government of the USA has made it a priority to dis-inform the Ameican people on solar energy. NO longer are the panels big and ugly, You can even get them later this year as roofing shingles. And next year it will be in a paint form. They come in all shapes and sizes!

Solar Water Heaters...
why--->According to mechanical engineers at the University of Wisconsin’s Solar Energy Laboratory, an average four-person household with an electric water heater needs about 6,400 kilowatt hours of electricity per year to heat their water. Assuming the electricity is generated by a typical power plant with an efficiency of around 30 percent, it means that the average electric water heater is responsible for about eight tons of carbon dioxide (CO2) annually, which is almost double that emitted by a typical modern automobile.
