Principal sources of water pollution are:

industrial discharge of chemical wastes and byproducts
discharge of poorly-treated or untreated sewage
surface runoff containing pesticides
slash and burn farming practice, which is often an element within shifting cultivation agricultural systems
surface runoff containing spilled petroleum products
surface runoff from construction sites, farms, or paved and other impervious surfaces e.g. silt
discharge of contaminated and/or heated water used for industrial processes
acid rain caused by industrial discharge of sulfur dioxide (by burning high-sulfur fossil fuels)
excess nutrients added by runoff containing detergents or fertilizers
underground storage tank leakage, leading to soil contamination, thence aquifer contamination

EFFECTS:
The environment is severely damaged in places due to water pollution. Wildlife is severely affected with them getting food and all necessities for survival from the water. If oil was to spill or seep in the arctic, heat from the oil could melt the ice and influence temperature levels around the world. Due to chemicals in the water reproductive rates in some sea mammals has decreased. Many animals that live and reproduce in the water are affected by water pollution. The seagrass beds and mangrove swamps are important breeding grounds for some. If these areas are not kept pollution free, the animals may eventually become extinct. This extinction may in turn hurt the life cycle of some aquatic animals.

Water pollution has many causes, most of them man-made. Pollution can be caused by farming, industry, dumping chemicals in the water, pesticides, etc... The effects: diseases like cancer, e coli (see recent spinach episode), the killing of animals when their water is too polluted to live in (especially fish.) List list is extensive. You really should be able to find this through some research.

polution or contamination results in less drinkable water ,so more strain on existing clean and good water

and dead animals ,fish and birds result because of polution

we live in a closed system on this planet and all life is interrelated
when species disappear ,we will be affected somewhere along the line and already are
