Recycling is an easy way to save energy. Recycling glass, aluminium and paper is more efficient than creating those things from scratch.
I'm not worried about recycling. It is far too easy to do to be worried about it.

If your local authority makes recycling more difficult than it should be, then ask them to change and tell them how they could make it better.

I don't know where you live, but in California you'd be considered lazy and irresponsible NOT to recycle. They have made it very convenient here to put it at the curb. They'll pick it up. We even recycle at work. I feel guilty putting a can in the trash! Basically anything anyone can do to decrease pollution, should be done. No one person can change the world, but thousands together can!

Where I live, the city collects recycling every week, including paper, plastic, metal, cardboard. They also have given everyone bins for composting anything organic including meat, cat litter, dirty tissues and paper towels. The result is that I now put one bag of garbage out every 5 or 6 weeks instead of every 1 or 2.

Remember that landfills aren't infinite, and recycling doesn't take any more time than doing laundry. You do wash your clothes don't you. You don't throw them out after you've worn them once.

My thinking is, why throw it away when it can be remade into something new? Once you get in the habit of recycling, it doesn't take much effort or time.
