Flooding is basically excess water in areas where it is normally dry. It could mean anything from a flooded basement to large scale flooding covering large areas of land the size of entire countries.
It can be caused by a large amount of melting snow in spring or the "rainy season" in tropical areas (Seasonal flooding), or a large amount of rain in a short time in one area usually caused by big storms or hurricanes (Storm flooding). The amount of water and the shape (topography) of the land surface (hills and valleys) which channels the runoff affects how fast the water will drain away; if the water enters an area faster than it can drain away then that area will flood.
Along coastlines flooding can be caused by the ocean level changing (Coastal Flooding).
That can be caused by a storm surge. A storm surge is when high winds make big waves and push those waves up onto dry land.
Or it can be caused by a tidal wave or tsunami. Those are caused by an underwater earthquake, or by two or more big waves combining to make one very big wave. That is called a rogue wave.
There is no way to prevent flooding, it has happened for millions of years and will continue to happen. All we can do is hope for the best and prepare for the worst. We can either move people out of the flooded area or try to channel the water where it will cause the least damage.
Flood plains are usually the richest soil so the best farm land is in areas which are flooded on a regular basis. People like to live where the soil is rich in order to grow the food they need to live.
The point is, if flooding had no effect on people, no one would care if it flooded or not.
If you wanted to demonstrate the different types of flooding to people it would be easy to make a couple of models. For seasonal and storm flooding all you need is a cheap clear plastic container that you are going to recycle anyway, a pitcher of water, a bucket and some sand.
Poke a little (maybe medium sized, not too big) hole in the side of the container near the bottom, then put some sand in the container and a bucket under it to catch the spill, pour in the water from the pitcher, if you pour it in faster than it can drain through the hole the water level in your container will rise and the sand will become covered or "flooded".
For the coastal flooding cover the hole and move most of the sand to one half of the container, flatten out the sand, pour water into the container, but not enough to cover the sand. Use a piece of cardboard or plastic and move it back and forth until you make waves that are higher than the sand. If your waves are higher than the sand they will wash over it and "flood" it.

Floods from the sea can cause overflow or overtopping of flood-defenses like dikes as well as flattening of dunes or bluffs. Land behind the coastal defence may be inundated or experience damage. A flood from sea may be caused by a heavy storm (storm surge), a high tide, a tsunami, or a combination thereof. A flood happens when an area of land, usually low-lying, is covered with water. The worst floods usually occur when a river overflows its banks.
Periodic floods occur naturally on many rivers, forming an area known as the flood plain. These river floods usually result from heavy rain, sometimes combined with melting snow, which causes the rivers to overflow their banks. A flood that rises and falls rapidly with little or no advance warning is called a flash flood. Flash floods usually result from intense rainfall over a relatively small area. Coastal areas are occasionally flooded by high tides caused by severe winds on ocean surfaces, or by tsunami waves caused by undersea earthquakes. There are often many causes for a flood.

Flooding happens when there is too much rainfall or snow melt in an area for the creek or river to carry away and still remain within its "banks". The only known way to control flooding is with flood control dams, which attempt to store the excess runoff during a rainstorm and release it gradually. If the dams and reservoirs are overwhelmed, as seems likely in monsoon season there will still be flooding, and if dams break, worse flooding than would have happened without them.

Floods cause when massive rains come all at one time so that there is no time for the water to sink into the ground.
Here is a definition: A flood (in Old English flod, a word common to Teutonic languages, you can compare German Flut, Dutch vloed from the same root as is seen in flow, float) is an overflow of water, an expanse of water submerging land, a deluge.[1] In the sense of "flowing water", the word is applied to the inflow of the tide, as opposed to the outflow or "ebb". The Flood, the great Universal Deluge of myth and perhaps of history is treated at Deluge in mythology.

I think this is a fear that you will not be able to cope, it will all become too much and it will all come falling down around you. The fact that it didn't means you will find the strength from inside. Please rest assured your daughter is fine. I work as a medium and understand this must be the most awful time for you, and nothing anyone can say can ease the pain you feel, but if you can try to understand she has just crossed over to the spirit world with the loved ones who have gone before her.

water is one of our natural resources and it's normal to rain.
and food comes along with such a heavy rain with that reason is we have little trees left to absorb the water. if there are trees not as much we need to avoid flood. over flowing of the canals is one. if the canals are full of trash the the flow of the drainage water will be blocked and the result is over flowing.

The firts sign , if you live next to a river, is a sharp rise in river level.
lots of things can cause it, Dam break, Heavy rain, Tsunami, earthquake, ect...
