Global warming theory is bunk but well done because the beauty of the theory is that it can never be wrong. Ever. It will always be right. And you know why? Because we'll always have WEATHER.

And that's just what Global Climate Change is a fancy new scare-tactic term for: WEATHER.

Why is it that the wind powered street lights outside my house hardly ever work.
Its been blowing a gale here for a few days now and not a glimmer from them.
This is a regular occurance.
Theres nothing wrong with them , they do come on once in a while.

I've heard that if all of the polar ice caps melt, the oceans will rise 20 feet. So who knows the precentage of the world's land that is 20 feet above sea level?

We are Earth - Wrote on Oct. 19, 2005 at 09:16 PM

The world turns with great energy.
We are the seeds of the Earth.
Earth is a seed of the universe.

We are trees,
we are life,
and we are Humans.

Sharing the world with other seeds,
Seeds like our own
Help Our Earth, breath.

We are the Oxygen of the Core
the world needs us in order to survive,
as we need the Earth to stay alive.

Soon our energy will end
and our Earth will descend.
Corruption with our nature, Will attend.
And red out planet will blend.

Every one claims that fossil fuel burning has caused the planet to warm up.

Oil dropped 9% in value in the last 2 weeks. The planet is too warm and people are not burning up all that fuel to heat their homes this year.

Do you think that Mother Nature is fighting BUSH? I mean BACK?

Are oilers feeling it where it hurts. In their pocket book???

the governor of idaho has decided to give hunters the green light to kill off 80% of the wild wolf population in idaho. this is an outrage. this was done to primarily appease hunters who fear they will not have enough elk and such to shoot at in the hunting season. i think these hunters should get a new hobby and not wreck the fragile balance of nature. the wolf population in these western states is just starting to reach healthier levels after decades (if not centuries) of shameless mass slaughter by the hands of man to the point of near extinction. obviously the governor and his merry band of hunters want to bring us back into the 19thc mentality of eradicating anything that ruins their fun without any thought of the consequences. there is such a thing as balance in this world. humans have wrecked just about everything we touch, as little of us respect the importance of balance. i feel for the little wolf cubs who will be slaughtered...

Chefs are always looking for a balance between satisfying the appetite of the consumer and remaining in business while practicing socially, economically and environmentally sound habits.
What other changes could chefs make towards becoming more environmentally responsible; while not relinquishing the satisfaction of the patron or extinguishing the business with expensive unrealistic ideals?

Chefs are always aware of the seasons as it brings a change in availability of produce. The availability of product and it's price flux makes us painfully aware of weather, political, and social changes.

The restaurant industry is seeing a shift towards more eco-friendly packaging for both raw products coming in the back door, and prepared items going out the front door.

Yet, while many chefs are taking on the challenge of finding organic foods, purchasing from local farms and supporting sustainable agriculture practices, the environment is still hurting.

Many large food service corporations, such as Sodexho, Compass, and Aramark who net billions of dollars annually, are not as strict in practicing eco-friendly habits as small scale restaurants are.

How can we make these large companies make environmentally responsible changes?
